1STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
As I grew up, I decided to study business administration and was enrolled in the
Koneru Lakshmaiah University at Vijayawada, India. While completing the course, I found
the logistics and supply chain sector most intriguing. Fundamentally, supply chain
management is managing the process of goods and services from the point of resource to the
point of consumption through various suppliers. It includes designing and planning the
process of supply, executing is with control, and monitoring the activities of the supply chain.
The purpose of supply chain management is to build a net value and competitive structure for
the organisations, leverage global logistics, aligning supply with demand, and assessing
performance on a global scale. Logistics is a integral segment of supply chain management. It
deals with storing the goods until they reach the consumers from the basic suppliers.
Thereafter, the significance of logistics is that the customer satisfaction depends on the
efficiency of it.
While supply chain management create competitive advantage, logistics helps to
satisfy the customers. Another key difference is that each organisation has its own logistics,
and supply chain management is connected to various organisations. Logistics and supply
chain management are becoming crucial elements of business in the current world of
globalisation. The management of the organisations are becoming aware that the success of
an organisation depends on the successful integration, management, and coordination of the
key components of the business. There lies the prospect of supply chain management.
Organisations are trying to find novel ways to gain competitive advantage and build
sustainable business. In order to create a sustainable business in today’s world, I recognised
that the emphasis should be put on to the relationship of an organisation to its customers and
supply chain. This grew my interest in this specific sector and I decided to pursue a career in
logistics and supply chain sector. As an emerging market on the global context, Australia has
the potential to grow, and thus the supply chain management of Australian organisations is a

prospective segment to study on. Hence, I decided that Australia is the most suitable place for
my further studies.
Having this objective, I took advice from an academic consultant and applied in two
universities – Victoria University and Latrobe University. My consultant suggested me to
enrol in Latrobe University, as, according to her, the university was offering electives of
logistics and supply chain management in the Masters of Management course. Although I had
an application in process with the Victoria University, trusting her judgement and
information, I took an admission in the Latrobe University a year ago without any further
research on the course. Soon I came to understand that her information was incorrect, as the
Latrobe University does not offer any such electives that I wished to pursue. I do not wish to
put the complete blame on my consultant, as I was equally guilty of not acquiring knowledge
on the course myself. After a year of studying and completing two semesters in the university,
I accepted the fact that the subjects of that course cannot supplement what I really was
interested in. Therefore, I withdrew my name form the course and attempting to reapply in
the Victoria University for the Masters of business course on supply chain management.
This time I thoroughly researched the course I wish to undertake in Victoria
University and was satisfied with the details of it. As I mentioned earlier, I wanted to pursue
masters of business on supply chain management since I am deeply interested in learning
more about logistics and supply chain sector. The structure of the management of business
course of Victoria University includes international supply chain structure, global
procurement, and green procurement, which are the topics that I wish to study further.
Therefore, this course under Victoria University is most appropriately suited for my interest.
My fascination with the flow of business, from acquiring resources to ensuring its
secure transportation to the ultimate destination, and vigorous enthusiasm on making this
process more profitable and sustainable have led me to this course. I enjoy doing theory work

of empirical researches and practical research work. It is my genuine believe that my
ambition with this study is compatible with the course that the Victoria University is offering.
Since I aim to obtain a career in the field of global logistics, this course would particularly be
beneficial for me in enhancing my skills and developing strategies regarding this sector.
Furthermore, after the completion of this course, I would like join the professional year, as
that would broaden my opportunities and provide me with a clear vision to strategize
sustainable business plans.
