1- Finding an internship:
I had chosen my internship as marketing executive at Eminence Inc. Ltd. due to
various reasons. The major reason to choose this internship was that the role of marketing
executive can help a lot in my future career. As a student the situation was to find a suitable
internship which can help in my career. Another reason was that the company Eminence Inc.
Ltd. is a premier provider of various IT solution and its services are focused towards the
ambitious small businesses (Agoston, Igret and Marinas, 2017). It is an opportunity to work
in such as a company. Internship in the company can affect the future career. This was the
major reason o chose this company as it is the best amongst the other companies in its
industry.
I wanted to choose a location which was not far from the university so that if I had
any work in the university I did not had to take leave from internship program. Another
reason was to save time as well. If the location of the internship company is close it can save
a lot of time in daily up-down. It also helped me I reaching to the company on time daily. The
company is located in Moorgate, London. The location is based in polish city where services
such as transport are easily available (Chand and Deshmukh, 2019).
For my internship, I had applied in the companies which were dealing in IT and
marketing for small businesses. These types of companies can help an individual to gain the
real time experience of the corporate world as well as well they allow to perform the real task
as well. They provide opportunities for growth which large companies lacks to provide. I was
looking for the companies which could provide real time work and experience which I could
utilise in my future careers. Another factor while searching for companies for internship was
to find a company which is reputed as well (Ardiyansah, 2021). I was proactive in all the
application process for my internship. I constantly opened my application. As one of my
professor told me that prior preparation can lead to excellent performance. So I was prepared
for the results during the whole process. I did not waited for the opportunity to come to me.
Rather I got up and move forward towards my dream internship. I believe being proactive
and as well as taking a few strong steps can help in increasing the chances for securing an
internship. For doing this I was constantly following up the interviews.
Constant reflection on my assessment activities have helped me in creating a basis for
creating and working on the feedback. It have also enabled me to look up-to my strengths and
weaknesses. Through the reflection I was able to work on my weaknesses with the use of my

strengths. The reflection on assessment activities have also enabled me to understanding the
gaps in knowledge and the solutions through which those gaps in assessment and knowledge
can be filled.
2. Progress report and relationship with company employees
I have been recruited as marketing executive intern in the organisation named as
Eminence Inc. LTD having the key main responsibility of developing appropriate marketing
campaign that could be used to attract and retained customers within the organisation. I have
also given opportunity of conducting research related to latest trend, planning social media
marketing, content marketing and information gathering and monitoring the activities for
desired outcome. Along with that as marketing executive I had been responsible for preparing
report and presentation and financial statistic that could be required to create and sustain
brand image in external environment. I have involved in different activities such as creating
social media marketing through making use of my creative and innovative skills to design the
image, type of content that need to be post on the social media platform. We have also
designed several events and marketing campaign with an motivate to inform customers about
the products and services in which firm deals and the way it can be used for benefits of
organisation (Chen and Lin, 2019). In addition, to this as post of marketing executive I have
incorporated activities to collect sufficient information about the customers. That has helped
in effectively knowing about their respective taste and preferences, or what actual they want
so that company can find best method to meet their expectancy.
Initiative and creative skill has also been utilised by me while working as marketing
executive as I have taken first initiative to find out innovative ideas to promote the business
in effective manner. Likewise, I have taken initiative to first launch the marketing campaign
and identified more creative ideas that could be used for growth and expansion of firm in
international market. Furthermore, being as marketing executive in the Eminence Inc LTD I
have encountered number of problems such as first finding more innovative and creating way
to inform and connect with customers. I also face challenges in coordinating different ideas
of various individuals that are working in team to promote marketing of the company in mind
and hearts of the customers (Bilgin, 2018). Yes, I have fit in the team, As I have required
skills such as creative, innovative, commitment, decision making, team working and problem
solving that has helped me in effectively work in team for the desired outcome.
At the same time, my previous experience has also helped in knowing me that I have
good time management skills as I have effectively schedule time frame for particular task that

need to be completed. All these has helped us in working in team and completing specific
task or activities in limited time possible for fruitful results. At last, it can be reflected that to
Handle supervisor's comments and make development of existing skills, I have effectively
listen to whatever instruction are being provided by the superior to complete task in desired
manner. All these has given me opportunities to work on my existing skills, knowledge and
capabilities to become a good marketing executive of reputable organisation.
3- Personal Competency Development
In my internship at Northumbria University London Campus, as my role of marketing
executive I have learned various skills. Developing and launching marketing campaigns have
helped me in learning how a marketing campaign can be created and implemented as well
(Puji and Lestari, 2021). I have also learned the social media marketing skills such as
development of skills and their implementation as well. I have also learned the skills of data
analysis and data analytics. In internship I had to create budgets as per the demands
forecasted, so through this I have acquired the skill of budgeting and forecasting. I have also
learned the content writing skill in consent marketing. In internship I had to conduct regular
researches and marketing trends as well. I have learned the skills of conducting research.
Apart from these I have also learned the skills such as managing new entries, information
collection and analysis and training and financial statistics as well. In internship the skill of
preparing of effective reports and presentation.
In the internship, there were various individuals belonging to different cultures,
religions and backgrounds as well. So to thrive in the diverse teams is significantly important
in the internship. I have effective communication skills which helps in ability to lead and
throve in the global environment and the cultural diversity as well. The multi-cultural
workplaces, classrooms and other places such as internship programs can be very tricky to
navigate but they come with a team which is worth the effort (Naim and Lenka, 2017). These
teams are more effective as they can help in seeing same thing with various distinct ways.
The ability to work in culturally diverse groups have provided various benefits to me such as
improved creativity as well as increased productivity. It have made me able to improve the
team spirit as well as have reduced the conflicts in the team. The ability to work in culturally
diverse teams have also increased productivity. The ability have also helped me in facing the
negative cultural stereotypes and eliminate them as well.

In a culturally diverse team, every member can gain a perspective into the other
person’s world. This creates more understanding for every person involved in the team, over
time. Therefore, it can help in creation of better communications for overall team (Staškeviča,
2019). The better communication can lead towards the improved team performance as well.
A team which have distinct backgrounds find it easier to drive out of box solutions. Cultural
diversity have impacted a lot in the team spirit. As coming from a different cultural
background, it was difficult for me to open up with other team members. However, with
constant communication I was able to contribute my skills and knowledge into the team
projects. Through my skills, competencies and knowledge I have contributed to maintain
healthy relationships between the team overall. Cultural diversity can be very beneficial if
used in appropriate manner. Cultural diversity should be used in a manner which respects the
views and opinions of other people. This in return will help in creating a team which is
effective as well as collaborative.
The strengths and weaknesses can help in engaging the process of continuous self-
development during the internship (Müller-Frommeyer and et.al., 2017). In my internship, we
worked on a new location which helped a lot in my self-development. Although I had various
skills such as communication as well. In the internship, I had to communicate with the
supervisors, other employees and other interns as well. It have helped in me in writing and
speaking in a professional manner. My presentation skills as well as listening skills. It have
enabled me in being an active listener which enable in understanding other people and as well
as responding to them appropriately. Being an active listener have listener me in responding
to my colleagues and other people with empathy. My positive attitude towards the life and
work, have been a major strength for me during my internship period. Positive attitude works
like an indicator that a person can be a collaborative team member as well as can contribute a
lot in the work environment. One of other strength which is self-discipline have also helped
me in engage my continuous development during internship program. It is the ability to work
hard without the oversight. It is the strength which a person in their professional careers and
work wants to have. Self-discipline helps in string work ethics and completion of tasks within
the set deadlines (Kemer, Eustice and Luby, 2017). I have used my self-discipline strength to
set appropriate objectives and goals during the whole internship. This have helped me in
creating a list of steps which help in attaining the desired goals.
My time management skills have also proved to be my strength during the internship.
Time management is a skill which can help in completion of all the tasks within the particular

deadlines. As an intern time management can help in management of effective trust building
all the supervisors and the other interns a well. Time management helps in learning other
skills as well (Crumb and et.al., 2018). Planning marketing campaigns and their development
in internship with the help of my strengths such as leadership and ability to take initiatives
have helped a lot in my self-development. My other skills such as teamwork skills and
interpersonal skills such listening as well as understanding other people with empathy have
also helped a lot in the self-development.
However, during my self-development during internship I have also realised my
weaknesses too. One of these weaknesses was critical thinking. Critical thinking is the skill
which can help in completing all the assignments and work in my internship (Bruwer and
Little, 2020). It can help in meeting challenges and problems as well as troubleshooting the
issues and challenges resourcefully. However, effective critical thinking is a strength which I
lack but the other people value this skill a lot. The reason behind is that it can help in
improving problem problem-solving abilities and competences. Through self-development a
person can improve critical skills through carefully evaluation of different challenges.
Through self-development critical thinking skills can be improved with the help of writing
the potential solutions as well as evaluating the potential outcomes foe every solution written.
Another weaknesses is inquisitiveness. This weakness is a hurdle in the self-development as
well. Inquisitiveness is the skill which is related to asking questions for gaining clarity on the
topics and concepts which can show a person is willing to learn and also want to complete an
activity or task in the most appropriate manner. This skill is essential for the self-
development of a person (Frazier and et.al., 2020).
The broader work-based engagement can help in development of your inter-personal
and intra-personal skills. Interpersonal skills are the skills which are associated with the
behaviours and attitudes of an individual use for interacting and communicating with other
people in effective manner (Qiao-Yin, 2019). It is the ability of a person to work in
collaboration with others. These skills include communication skills, listening skills as well
as deportment and attitudes. Through a broader work based engagement, various
interpersonal skills can be developed. Work based engagement refers to the concept which is
associated with the levels of dedication and enthusiasm a person feel towards their tasks or
jobs. Through showing a greater work engagement in the internship such as cultivating a
positive outlook. Though the skill of controlling my emotions can help me in keeping my
personal life and professional life aside. Keeping personal and professional life aside can help

in creating a greater focus on the work which results in enhanced work engagement. My
collaborative skill have also helped me in showcasing a real interest in my other intern
colleagues. This ultimately helps in creation of a workplace which is collaborative and where
everyone works in team spirit. A collaborative work environment also helps in enhancing the
engagement of people towards the work (Martín-Lara, Iáñez-Rodríguez and Luzón, 2019). A
collaborative work environment also enables individual to respect the opinions of each other
which helps in trust building between people. Another interpersonal skill which is empathy
can also help in work engagement. My listening skill can help in showcasing the empathy
towards other people.
Intra-personal skills are the skills or abilities which reside within an individual in the
problem solving. These skills are inherited within the individual and they are not learnt. It
involves skills such as adaptability and self-management or self-development etc. through the
intrapersonal skills can also help in enhancing work engagement. The interpersonal skill such
as being aware of the own thinking and opinions can help in being more open in work. My
ability of being open-minded have helped in creating a string relationship with the other
people such as supervisors. The ability to learn is a significant skill which is needed in every
field of work. The ability to learn can help in making an individual to be more engaged in the
work. The self-disciplinary and self-motivation are the skills which have helped me in
becoming more focused towards the work (Samanta, 2019). This have enhanced or broaden
the work engagement. Self-motivation enables a person to be more focused towards the work.
It makes a person to engage in work more. Being able to overcome boredom and being
patient also help in enhancing work engagement. It means it makes a person to put more
interest in the work than the other things which distract them.
There were various activities which I performed in the internship. Some of these
activities involves conducting research, social media marketing, content marketing,
marketing analytics data analysis, report and preparations, budgeting, forecasting, developing
and launching marketing campaigns and strategies, digital marketing and data collection and
data interpretation as well. For example in the activities of data collection and research the
decision making was involved more. In data collection decision making activities involves
what will be the resources of data collection, what will the method of data collection and
what type of data will be collected (Samanta, 2019). It also involved the decisions regarding
what data should be carried forward for preparation and presentation of report. Forecasting
and promotional activities also involved critical decision making skills. It was important to

decide which areas were to be focused more. The decisions were based on the logical
thinking and facts. The promotional activities involves huge research and analytics.
Another daily was to develop and launch successful marketing campaigns and
strategies for companies. This involved the critical problem solving skills. To develop the
marketing strategies and campaigns research involved finding the solutions to problems
recognised in previous campaigns and strategies. The problem solving skill is associated with
finding the solutions which can provide effective and appropriate solutions to problems. As
per the problems and challenges recognised in previous campaigns the new solutions have to
be identified. Then new strategies and campaigns were developing while keeping the account
of those issues and solutions identified (Staškeviča, 2019). After successfully diagnosing the
problem, the new marketing campaigns and strategies were launched. Communication was
the skill which was involved in all of the activities whether a base levels or at the upper level.
Effective communication was reflected in each task performed through collaborating with
other people and working in a team as well.
Collaboration was another skill which was showcased in the internship. I had to work
in teams collaboratively reflecting good team spirit. For each activities performed by all the
interns they all were divided into various teams. In order to attain the targets, working in
collaboration was necessary. Effective collaboration was maintained through constant an
effective communication within the team as well as with supervisors. Collaboration also
showcase the ability of a person to work with others in an effective manner which helps in
contributing towards the final desired outcomes.
Innovation have a great significance in today’s world. In the internship, we had to
develop and launch marketing campaigns which could grab the attention of audience and
prove to be successful. To do this, innovation was key (Müller-Frommeyer and et.al., 2017).
My innovation and creativity skills were showcased in the activities such as creation of
promotional activities and other marketing such as digital marketing and social media
marketing where the innovation and creative content is the key to grab the attention of
customers. Through innovation and creativity various marketing activities were created in the
internship.
4- Reflection of Learning and Development
Learning and development in internship is the major significance reason to conduct
internships. During my time in learning I have learned various competencies, knowledge and

skills as well. However the learning came after the work was complete which means
internship was complete. Reflecting about those experiences can be a key to learning. I have
realised that the actions and tasks performed in internship can lead to creating experiences
which leads towards the identification of experience which forges a new way of thinking. It
have taught how the learning can be implemented in real life situations and work profile as
well (Nosulich and Mukan, 2020). My academic learning have helped me in understanding of
some concepts due to which it was easy to put those concepts into practice. I used my
academic reflection to perform tasks in internship.
For example: I my academics I had learned the concepts of development and launching of
strategies and campaigns as well. Due to this experience I was able to understand the
basics of those concepts. Reflection on that experience made it easy for me to put those
concepts in practice to perform tasks of internship.
Internship have enabled me in enhancing my ability to engage in constant
development. The constant development was initiated through having an experience from
internship. From internship I have gained experience to perform certain task and
implemented the academic concept into the real life situations. Reflecting and reviewing on
that experience helps in forming new experience (Faller, Marsick and Russell, 2020). It
means this have helped me in developing my gained experience in the internship. The
reflection on internship experience have enabled me in raising the new ides through
modification of existing abstract concepts. It have enhanced my engagement in learning and
development. Through the reflection I am able to apply new ideas gained from internship into
the word to see what the outcomes are. In the internship we had to perform various tasks
which were completely new concepts to me. This leads to further development of learning.
The constant learning have also enabled me to learn new concepts. During my internship
some concepts which were learned in academics needed to implemented in the work (Bruun
and et.al., 2019). This led to enhancement of my knowledge on those concepts. The
workshops in academics have also helped in reflecting those concepts and implement them
into internship tasks.
For Example: In my internship I have enhanced personal development. In internship I
transferred the academic concepts into practice to perform various tasks in internship.
During my internship I have realised my strengths and weaknesses. I have strong
communication skills which have helped me in my internship as well. During my internship I

had to interact with various people such as other interns and supervisors on regular basis.
Effective communication skills have helped me in creating string relations with my
colleagues at internship. My other strengths is my abilities to initiate and lead innovations
and creativity as well. This have helped me a lot in my internship. I am very creative and
innovative which have also helped in creating and development of marketing campaigns and
strategies in my daily tasks at internship. I have also identified my skills to be completely
committed and professional towards my work. I follow code of conducts and ethics of the
work as well. During my internship I have also realised that professional is a skill which I
follow completely. I’m able to apply the academic concepts into the real world situations. All
the strengths which I have realised during my internship have helped me in transforming my
internship experience into new experience.
Apart from the strengths I have also realised some of my weaknesses as well. One of
the weakness is that I am impulsive sometimes. Sometimes I realise that I find that it is my
compulsive and string need to do things more fast and quickly. This can influence facts and
rational thinking. It can impact the decision. Being nervous is another weakness. Sometimes I
get nervous while communicating with other people mostly when I have to give
presentations. Apart from these I sometimes feel pressurised. This can influence my strengths
too. During my internship I have enhanced my personal development (Chang, 2019).
Through reflection on my strengths and weaknesses, I have developed myself. Internship
have helped me in personal development. Internship have developed my skills, competencies
as well as knowledge. For my internship I had formulated various objectives. Through my
reflection on experience gained from the internship I have attained my goals as well. I have
enhanced my experience in my filed. As an intern of marketing executive I have gained
experience on how to create, develop and launch the successful marketing, digital and social
strategies as well as campaigns.
For Example: Before starting the internship, I had formulated the goal to gain intensive
experience on creating and developing marketing strategies and campaigns as well. In the
internship program I was a part of team to develop and launch the social media marketing
campaigns and digital marketing as well.
Through reflection I have realised patterns of behaviours as well. Patterns of
behaviours are the complex arrangement of various responses which occur in the prescribed
order. I have realised my pattern of behaviour (Anderson, 2020). I have realised that I am

optimistic who have positive attitude in all the situations. I am very optimistic which means I
seek best in every situation. Optimistic pattern of behaviour have helped a lot in various
situations at internship.
