Solution: Given that the total number of students in school = 900. From given pie chart, the percentage of
students who prefer films in school = 20%

2) The circle graph below shows the approximate percent of immigrants admitted into the U.S. during the
1990s, Use the graph to answer the following questions.
a) What percent of immigrants were not from Asia?
b) In a group of 2,000,000 immigrants, how many would
you expect to be from Europe?
c) In a group of 4,000,000 immigrants, how many more
would there be from Latin America than all the other
regions combined?
Solution a:
% of Other = 100 – (% of Latin America + % of Europe + % of Asia) = 100 – (52 + 13 + 30) = 5
So the % of immigrants were not from Asia = (5 + 52 + 13) = 70%

Assignment 2
Solution b: Given that the total immigrants = 2,000,000 and the % of immigrants from Europe = 13%
So, the number of immigrants from Europe = 13% of 2,000,000
Solution c: Given that the total immigrants = 4,000,000 and the % of immigrants from Latin America = 52%
So, the number of immigrants from Latin America = 52% of 4,000,000
And the combined number of immigrants from Asia, Europe and Other except Latin America = 5 + 13 + 30 =
48%
So, the number of immigrants from Asia, Europe and Other except Latin America
= 48% of 4,000,000
Hence, there are immigrants from America that is more than all the other
regions combined.
