Material Requirement Planning
Introduction
The plan is to hold a party in the next four weeks, and 50 guests are expected. The guest will

following tables and calculations show the planning of material needed for each of the three
edibles to be consumed at the party.

The requirements for the sandwich are extracted from a recipe that serves four, so every
requirement is to be multiplied by 50/4 to get the required volume/amount. In the interest of
expenditure, sandwiches will be orders from a nearby fast food store. All the calculations have

assumed a zero-lead time. Given the nature of the situation, it’s a one-time occasion, not a
continuous production process. The material requirement plan is calculated as the shopping that
the cost needs to do to fill up the requirements for the guests. The planning will consider that the
host will still be using some of the resources during the preparation period.
The plan assumes that on some of the days prior to the party week, some preparations will be
done, and the persons responsible for the preparation will have to be catered for.
Other assumptions
1. The host already has all the utensils required.
2. There is no constant daily consumption at the party venue.
3. The host can only shop on a weekly basis.
4. There are no running schedules; inventory on hand is not recharged within the week.

weeks from the planning date with 50 attendees who will feed on
