1.Introduction to anemia
There are various types of aberrant RBC morphology. Deformed red blood cells result in a
disorder called anemia. The red blood cell cells are produced in the bone marrow and are
released into the bloodstream. In the bloodstream. They live for about three months before they
are sent to the spleen to be destroyed. If the number of red blood cells is too low, there will be an
abnormally low number of oxygen levels in the tissues, which will result in anemia. This
condition can also occur when the red blood cells are deformed.
2. various red blood cells morphology
Red blood cells could undergo deformities due to multiple reasons. The abnormalities could be
visible o their size, shape or color. The type of morphology can be used to diagnose the diseases
that the patient is suffering. The morphology of red blood cells is observed using a blood smear
and a light microscope (Constantino 2015, p.1-7).
3. Reporting and grading Abnormal red blood cell morphology
Abnormalities in the clinical laboratory have a unique grading system. According to Constantino
(2015, p 1-7), the abnormalities of the red blood cells can be graded based on their shape, size,
color, and inclusions present. The morphology of the deformed red blood cells is used to classify
the abnormality; the first aspect is the shape of the erythrocyte. The red blood cells should be
biconcave shaped; however, abnormal red blood cells can take up a new shape, for example,
sickle shape. Another aspect is the size; an abnormal RBC may be microcytes, macrocytes, or
oval macrocyte. The researcher should observe if there is dual population or anisocytosis. The
