PART ONE Media representation of crime In this era of digitalization and globalization one of the necessity element in the society is the media as it is an important part that plays a significant role in the whole world. It represent many things like the latest information of the things going around the world, information related the crimes, health and safety, etc (Dobrescu and et.al., 2021). So, media also report on the highlights of the crimes that are conducted in the country as as well as in the other countries in order to make the people aware about the misdeed. Media report about the crimes related to the murder, rape, domestic violence, child abuse, threats and harassments, etc. It covers or report all the type of offences to make the citizens informed. The media gave a positive as well as the negative effect on the crime rate and also on the aggressive behaviour of the public. It is one of the debatable subject that have a contradictory point of view which means that media act as an important variable that have the power to influence the other variables of the society. The main aim or the focus of the media coverage is about the crime related stories. Sometimes media present the reports in such a way that effect the feelings of the citizens and can represent the offence in a wrong way or manner (Choi, Yim and Hicks, 2020). Many news about the crimes are boasted by the media reports that gave a negative impact on the society or the whole world. On the other hand it makes the people aware about the crimes and also suggest the ways of protection. Media have a great influencing power that directly affect the understanding and the perceptions of the public and can be able to spread a message or the information about the offence in the whole world and tell about the intensity of the crime and its effect on the people. Sometimes it reports on the sensational issues which means the issues related to the emotions of the public and can creates a panicking situation or contributes to moral panic. The coverage or the reports of the media very rarely examines or analyse the cause or the reason behind the crime (Kleeman, 2020). It is only interested on the highlights of the crimes whether it will creates problems for the people. Now a days public or the people are also interested about the news or the latest updates of the crimes only. They like to get the information about the offences and react on the basis of the information without analysing the actual situation. Events mainly the violent events or the crimes that are provided through the CCTV footage or the videos from the mobile phones are more trustworthy as compared to the media reports because it reduces the
dramatic impact of the media towards the audience. So, in this way media represent the crimes or the other offences that gave a huge impact on the public. PART TWO INTRODUCTION Media plays a significant role in the society and it has a power to influence and manipulate the people and can control them in many ways such as physically, mentally and emotionally (Wahlström and Törnberg, 2021).
