How might we address the problem of three times higher sodium intake in the patientpopulation using the medical model that a health care provider might use vs. a populationhealth model that a public health official might use.Medical model is a term that is coined by psychiatrist R.D.Laing. This term includessome medical assistance that can be imparted by all doctors. These medical assistanceopportunities include diagnosis, treatment, prognosis, physical examination, addressingcomplaints and queries regarding ailment (Laing, 2013). Medical model has been proved tobe very successful and in most of the situations imminent in dealing with physicalcomplications. For an example, a skull fracture cannot be acutely treated with immediatemedical; attention and required care. The medical model basically states about an ability toresearch the causative factors of a physical complication and therefore, work in order torender a suitable remedy to alleviate the difficulties (Morgan & Yoder, 2012). This medicalmodel can be best compared to other models of treatment or remedy recommendation suchholistic model in case of alternative treatment model to further ascertain its effectiveness andindispensable nature. Other models like recovery model in social mental illnesses are mostlydesigned to deal with chronic problems while medical model deals with both the chronic andacute problems. But one thing is to be considered cautiously that these models are notmutually exclusive that means these models can apply to a particular case scenario jointly(Gabe & Monaghan, 2013). For an example, the double bind theory of schizophrenia does notmuch focus on the medical causes rather than it focuses on the environmental factors. But thisdoes not deter medical care to be extended to the patients who are suffering from this kind ofschizophrenic attacks (Biedermann, Frajo-Apor & Hofer,2012). A model is not only aproposed doctrine. Rather it is a tool to help real life situations that pose challenges. Thisdepends on the context of the scenario pertaining to the fact how far the situation is relevantto be explained in the light of a proposed model. A public health official works in an arena
