1 Compare the characteristics of patients at entry and the treatment (management during follow-up) between the two phases of recruitment using appropriate statistical techniquesIt can be seen from the table that in case of most of variables big changes does not come inthe variables. However, in case of variables like insulin, adherence, weight at 60 months andweight loss after five years change is observed in the value of standard deviation. Hence, it canbe said that in second phase of recruitment changes are observed in the patient’s characteristicsin terms of the mentioned variables.2 Compare the characteristics at entry of the three subgroups of patients defined by treatment(management during follow-upIt can be seen from the table that in case of diet and tablet big difference is not observed inthe entry level characteristics on different parameters. However, there is a difference between thepatients who received tablet and insulin along with diet. In case of all variables there is adifference in the values of standard deviation which prove the above mentioned statement.

3 Regression modelInterpretation Regression equation is Y=0.0582x+12.363. This equation can be used to make predictionabout the dependent variable by using independent variable. On the basis of backwardmethod it is identified that there are only two independent variables which does nothave significant impact on the dependent variable. These two independent variables arecigarate smoking and insulin. It can be seen that coefficient for both variables is -0.55 and 0.108.Value of correlation between dependent and independent variable is 0.263 which reflect thatthere is moderate of very low correlation among the dependent and independent variables. Valueof R square is 0.06 which means that with change in the independent variable 6% change comesin the dependent variable. This reflects that with increase in weight loss smoking will declined. Moreover, it is also identified that due to increase in weight loss insulin quantity get increase inthe human body. It is assumed that data that is taken in to consideration is normally distributed. On this basis regression model is applied on set of figures.
