Mediums of Communication in Business
Information is regarded as the Lifeblood of a business. For the effective communication of
information there should be an efficient medium. There are several communication mediums
which consist of written and oral methods. We have to make sure the information is delivered to
the intended receiver in an understandable way. Otherwise, there would be no use of
communication. In the past few days, I have received several business messages and I must say
businesses are using new and innovative mediums of communication for conveying knowledge
about their products. I have listed different mediums of communication some of which deliver
the message very effectively and some are relatively not effective or less effective. The
communication mediums through which I had received the business messages includes the
Email, Telephone Calls, Social Media, Text Messages and Face to Face Communication etc.
Among various mediums through which I have received business messages the two best
mediums which attract me most are Social Media and Face to Face Communication. The Social
Media Communication is considered to be the most effective medium of communication. The
way it attracts is the most effective to build a huge base of customers as well as it helps in getting
genuine feedback from the customers. By capturing Global markets, it enhances the international
reach of your business. Through the use of Social Media platform people can conduct the market
research economically and it also causes a reduction in overall costs. It builds up the brand image
of the organization’s products through advertising and helps in building up the network of
customers. The revenue of the business organizations could be increased by exchanging ideas
and doing business in an improved way. Social Media websites are also being used for hiring and
recruiting employees and let you create a huge pool of candidates to choose the best one. The
organizations are now using Social Media platforms for keeping an eye on their competitors.
The second most effective way of communication of business messages is Face to Face
communication. The medium provides the business organizations an easiest way of convincing
people through their social networking experts. You can capture the mind of your audience with
your words of mouth and can build more strong connections with your customers. The verbal
and non-verbal communication is the key to the success of this way of communication. I have

impressed by the way of communication of the speaker and was convinced to purchase their

also does not tell anything about the intentions of the sender, like in Face to Face
Communication we can observe their facial expressions, gestures and movements.
Email is another bad medium of communication for the businesses for communicating their
messages. Promotional Emails are gathered into a separate category. People usually do not pay
attention towards this category, that’s most of such emails are just ignored by them. Sometimes,
the email causes an overload of information which makes the message lengthy and bore. There
might be no response from the customers, as it takes a little time and customers generally have
no time to reply to promotional emails. Email and Text Messages do not include verbal
communication, so it can cause misunderstanding of the concept of message.
There are different methods which we can use to improve the Poorly Constructed
communication in an efficient way. First of all, businesses should analyze the behavior of their
target audience. They must know the type of communication method that attracts them the most.
They should develop various alternatives for targeting their audience. There should be the right
selection of communication methods to capture the attention of the targeted audience as well as
they must make their message concise and clear. They should keep their tone friendly and
humorous, as generally the audience puts their focus on such messages. The right medium of
communication allows the businesses to get the attention of their targeted audience.
