Parenting
It is a process for parents to provide their children with the best upbringing.
It is child rearing, which is supporting and promoting the social, emotional,
intellectual and physical development of a child from infancy to adulthood.
Parenting has intricacies of bringing up a child on the whole and not only
because it is a biological relationship.

Styles of Parenting
Authoritative Parenting: It is the ‘just right’ style as described by
Baumrind. It is a combination of medium levels of children’s demand and
responsiveness of parents.
Authoritarian Parenting: This is a kind of parenting in which the parents
are extremely rigid and strict. Children are expected to fulfil high demands
but the parents are unresponsive.
Permissive Parenting: In this parenting the child’s demands and needs are
given the highest priority and the parents are usually understanding because
they rely on explanation and reasoning.
Uninvolved Parenting: The least preferred parenting style because the
parents are not bothered about their child’s welfare and they are usually
physically or emotional absent (Smetana 2017).
