Network Configuration and Troubleshooting

COMMANDS
1. Save the configurations
ANSWER: command to save the current running configuration to the start-up configuration
file is
copy running-config startup-config
2. Verify connectivity from one PC through the network to the other PC (use two different
commands to do this)
ANSWER: the two commands are:
a. Ping: this command uses the IP address of the other machine to check the
connectivity. Syntax is:
Ping <IP address>
b. Tracert command: it traces the path to the destination PC. its syntax is:
Tracert <IP address>
3. Display the saved Configuration of the devices.
ANSWER: the command for this is: “ipconfig”. It displays all configurations of the device on
which it is being run.
4. Display the routing table.
ANSWER: the command to display the routing table is “show ip route”.

Q1: What part of this project was the most difficult and why?
ANSWER: configuring the devices was most difficult as first we has to calculate the subnets and ip
addresses, then assign them to the devices and assign all other values to each device as per their
configuration.
Q2: Do you feel more confident in your ability to actually build this kind of a network having
completed this project? Why or why not?
ANSWER: yes we feel more confident about our abilities after doing this project. We have searched
and learnt about these things and this has made us more comfortable. Also all this implementation and
questions have also helped us a lot.
