Sufferers of continuous domestic violence are usually at jeopardy of suffering mentalillness. Such issues can make the situation worse since the abuser can accuse their partner ofbeing ‘mad’ or imagining things. Sometimes, it is a challenge for mental well-beingprofessionals as they may focus on the mental well-being issues and fail to recognize that theheart of the actual problem is an abusive relationship. Professionals should recognize that peoplethat are in a relationship that is abusive may suffer from wider impacts especially if they do notget the necessary support. Most victims of domestic abuse blame themselves for what ishappening yet this should not be the case. This leads to mental well-being issues like anxiety,depression or even post-traumatic stress disorder. It is important that victims seek help;otherwise they are at a risk of suffering from long-term mental well-being effects. The victimsend up coping with their stress by engaging in things like drugs, alcohol, over-eating or smokingand this worsens the issue.Hester, M., Ferrari, G., Jones, S. The study is done using a cross-sectional questionnaire study that is donebetween September 2010 and June 2011 in South West England. The study is done across 16

The main outcomemeasures for this study are the negative behaviors that are consistent with domestic violence andabuse and this include use of cannabis and binge drinking. The study also looks at how thesevictims can suffer from anxiety and depression symptoms. The negative behaviors that wereexperienced by the men include feeling scared and physically hurt. The men who experiencedthese behaviors had been in relationships that were domestically violent or abusive. The studyconcludes that presentation of symptoms like anxiety and depression are likely to be a sign ofmale experience or even perpetration of domestic violence and abuse victimisation.University of Montreal. The researcher also studies the role that certain factors in the personalhistory of a victim play. These factors are childhood abuse or economic poverty. The studysample is drawn from a population of mothers who participate in a Longitudinal Twin Studyover a period of 10 years. The study considers those who have a history of depression and anumber of interviews are conducted over the ten years so that the researchers are able todetermine if the interviewees had suffered from domestic violence and mental well-beingdisorders. A sample size of 1,052 mothers is used. The results show that more than a third ofwomen have suffered violence in the hands of their spouses and they had history of experiencingchild abuse, illicit substance abuse, early pregnancy, poverty and antisocial behaviors.
