Q. No. 1.
The Mental State Examination (MSE) is an organized way used in clinical psychology
to judge out the social, internal and mental states of the client who is going through some
issues. It can include the appearances, behaviors, cognition, vision, attention and many
similar factors which can indicate his mental and cognitive states. A combination of all these
factors is used to indicate the mental condition of the client (Renn & John, 2019). The
Mental Health State of the client, Munny according to the case is depressive and his tidy
appearance shows that he is not mentally sick but there might be some factors which may be
disturbing and depressing him. His loose fitted clothes show that his eating habits are
disturbed because the usual size of his clothes is no more fitted. His cognitive behavior shows
that he is depressed and does not want to talk to anyone because he answers all the questions
in one single answer. His vision is also not focused and eye contact is absent because he is
staring at the floor. It shows that he is mentally scattered and cannot develop his focus on
anything.
The personality diagnosis disorders are discussed and published in manuals like ICD
and DSM. These diagnoses help the professionals and the diagnostic manuals are a great help
to them (Morey & Hopwood, 2019). The behavior and personality of the patient show that
he has recently gone into depression and wants to cut off from the external environment.
DSM (The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders) aims at identifying
whether the DSM-V has categorized the people in actual categories according to their mental
health or not (Cooper, 2018). According to the section-II of the DSM, depression, anxiety,
trauma and personality disorder are seen in Munny and he is affecting all of them.
Dealing with people who show challenging behaviors and are suffering from stressful
situations, they should be highly cared and if the treatment is done according to their cultural

needs, they will be engaged with the clinical help and the treatment will become easy
(Hungerford, et al., 2017). Munny also had stressed on his job but he was satisfied with
the job until his boss told him that he was not happy with the work of Munny. This depressed
Munny because he already had death trauma of his mother, childhood memories of leaving
Cambodia and death shot of his father. The loss of loved ones, failure in academia and now
the failure in current profession accumulated and his anxiety, stress, and trauma multiplied.
Emotional disturbance is mostly caused by trauma and DSM highlights that diagnosis
can be done if one has emotional trauma due to a certain event. This can result in the form of
isolation and mind does not accept the others in life because the mind always keeps thinking
about the trauma (Stolorow, 2018). The death trauma of the parents of Munny has affected
his life a lot. At a young age, when he lost his father, he had his mother with him but now
when his mother has also gone, he is depressed with life.
Q. No. 2.
The Stress Vulnerability Model indicates that there are certain elements which may
affect a person from within or outside the environment and they can cause stress. These
elements may include substance use, stress, stamina, productive activities and social setup
(Behavioral Health Evolution, 2019). Trauma-informed care is a term which is used for
the treatment of those who are involved in traumatic situations and they need effective and
special care by their physicians and psychological experts in which empathy and care must be
highly focused (Raja, Memoona, Michelle, Stephanie, & Chelsea, 2015).
The first factor is the stress in the life of Munny because he has lost his parents, he
had failures in life and he is also declared by his boss that he is ineffective. This made him
mentally ill. He is not looking at the positive things in life, instead, he is obsessed with the
negative thoughts of employment, death trauma, failure in academia and loss of homeland.
His family was made homeless in 1975. Khmer Rouge, during his period, killed and sent
