Question 1a:
From the mental health assessment of Chung and case study information about his life
events and the impact that it has facilitated on his life, it can be considered that the most
influential risk for him is the suicidality. During the conversation with the care professional,
Chung had repeatedly stated that he has been feeling worthless and a failure both ion his
professional and personal life. He had also been feeling inclination towards suicide as well.
Feeling of self-loathing and worthlessness often is expressed as a self-harming ideation and
can eventually turn to suicide (Forte et al., 2018). Moreover, Chung also expressed thought of
suicide himself. Hence, the risk of suicide is the most vital for him which needs immediate
medical attention.
Question 1b:
Suicide is a very important health risk that had been identified for Chung which needs
immediate medical intervention. The first and foremost intervention that Chung will require
is immediate counselling from a psychotherapist. The suicide prevention cognitive
behavioural therapy had been identified as a very potent intervention that van help in
influencing the patient out of committing suicide of harming himself. As discussed by
Asarnow et al. (2017), suicide prevention cognitive behavioural therapy does not only
provide risk reduction but also provides relapse prevention and mood upliftment. Hence, it
will be an immediate intervention for Chung.
Question 2a:
Mental health concern for the patient Chung in this case can be depression. As per the
information shared by the case study and the mental health assessment data, the psychotic
disorder that the patient is suffering from major depressive disorder. Depression is one of the
most vital mental health concerns, which gives rise a variety of different co-morbid disorders

as well. As per the literature, the immigrants often experience a heavy risk of developing
depression, which if left untreated, can lead to various other more pressing concerns for the
patient. His occupational stress, the health issues of his wife and complete detachment from
his family and cultural identity has given rise to extreme low mood, worthlessness and
suicidal ideation which all indicate at depression (Ramezani et al., 2017). Hence, this is the
mental health concern for Chung.
Question 2b:
The immediate intervention that I would like to undertake for the patient on an urgent
basis is conduct a therapy session with collaboration of a psychiatry practitioner and his
family. In this case Chung’s depression had been deteriorated by postpartum depression.
Depression and its treatment can be bidirectional, whereas the aid of antidepressant
medication can provide symptomatic relief. Targeting the root cause of his depression will
require an intervention involving both him and his family, so that strength based nursing care
can be applied to treat his condition which is mostly developed due to his family issues with
occupational stress (Ramezani et al., 2017).
Question 3:
The ethical issue in this case can be confidentiality. It has to be mentioned that Chung
himself is an emergency department doctor and disclosing information regarding his mental
health can be a grave professional issue for him. Furthermore, due to his medication error
incident in the past, he had already been under scrutiny from the hospital authorities. Hence,
Confidentiality in this case can be a grave concern for Chung (Baruth & Manning, 2016).
The professional issue in this case can be lack of cultural appropriateness. Chung is a
Chinese immigrant and the care approach and communication approach taken for him might
clash with his traditional perception regarding illness and health care. Hence, in case proper
