MENTAL HEALTH NURSING2 The application of CRC in the case scenario has been used in the provision of the analysis and diagnosis of information on behavioral, emotional and mental conditions of David (Forouzanfar et. al, 2016). This can be seen when Greg, David’s son notices that his father has become more socially withdrawn and is not attending the bowls club. According to Greg, David doesn’t seem to be himself, he also reports of having belly ache because of eating too much. When they comment to David concerning his status, he responds by saying that they are all a bunch of hangers just after his money. After examining David, Greg concludes that his father has depression and straight away he commences him on antidepressant. The purpose of CRC in our scenario helps Greg address the behaviour of his father through family, group, individual, and marriage counseling and psychotherapy. In accessing the mental health condition of David, we find that for the period that he has stayed with Greg and her wife they have noticed that David doesn’t seem to be himself, he goes to bed late and wakes up early around 4am. They also notice that David has no interest in his garden and also he doesn’t fix his hobby car anymore. When questioned, David says that his back aches when under the bonnet and also his legs ache when in the garden. The house of David is untidy as the dishes are not washed as before and also there is food which is expired in the fridge, it is also evident that David is socially and has not been attending the bowls club. Due to these observations, Greg concludes that his father has depression There exist two pieces of legislations that govern the manner in which the conditions of mental health receive treatment and care (Haugland, & Reime, 2018). We have the Mental Act as well as the Mental Capacity Act. The legislative relevant to our scenario is the Mental Capacity Act. This Act gives chance to someone to decide on the behalf of another person above the age
MENTAL HEALTH NURSING3 of 16 years about their best interests, in scenarios where the person lacks the ability to decide on themselves. This legislation can be see when Greg decides on behave of his father that his father needs to undergo medication and thus he directly commences him on medication. These decisions are in relation to life changing events, restrictions of person’s liberty as well as daily matters as in our case scenario. Ethical considerations of mental health legislations that any analysis is supposed to look at are like the health department, the community care failure, the requirement for new legislation as well as the realities for new community treatment. In our scenarios here, we find that David is bad-tempered when he is asked about how he is feeling; he also refuses medical care when the nurse tries to enter his premises. Barbara his sister also comments that David doesn’t seem to be himself and had only left the house once. Results from researches carried out previously reveal that the strengths of an individual are in relation to the improvement of mental health (Mi, & Masrur, 2017). The strengths have a potential of bringing positive results in different life aspects such as the status of health, functional status, satisfaction, as well as helping in recovery of mental health. The recovery- oriented values of practice of health guarantee health care services for mental are brought in a manner that sustains the mental health consumers’ recovery. Some of them consist of the exceptionality of the person which recognizes that recuperation isn’t about treatment but about the availability of opportunities for choices and living a meaningful, satisfying and purposeful life. There is also principle of real choices which empower people to make their own choices. Medication plays a crucial part in the treatment of mental disorders and conditions. This treatment includes psychotherapy as well as the brain stimulation therapies (Alvares, Quintana,
MENTAL HEALTH NURSING4 Hickie, & Guastella, 2016). Sometimes psychotherapy alone might be the best option of treatment. On the other hand, there are effects associated with these treatments. The effects of psychiatric treatment appear to be both common as well as being severe in relation to the increased number of utilized medication and increased difficult of increase care. We have polypharmacy regimens consisting of SSRIs or antipsychotics which are associated with experiencing of side effects within the sample of study.
