Introduction
The concern of the research will revolve around the ‘Clatsop country’ located in
Astoria, Oregon and discuss with the respect of the country concerned the impact of the status
of being homeless on the psychic disposition of the person and impact the mental health of
the people concerned. As a result, the report would be aimed towards the perusal of the
stakeholders, policymakers as well as activists to draw their attention towards the importance
of creating more and more shelter.
Background
As compared to the general population, the mental illness is more likely to prevail in
the psyche of the people who have been homeless. One fourth of the total number of people
who are homeless, end up giving up their home. According to the works of the Brecky and
Fishcher, it can be suggested that among the people with mental illness the substance abuse
has been recorded at a much higher rate (Perry and Craig 2015). As per the study conducted
in the year 2015, a huge proportion of the individuals had been rendered homeless. Following
the standards of homelessness and it has been suggested that 40% of the America’s homeless
population has suffered from mental illness (Narendorf 2017).
Benefits and Feasibility
The people who have been forced to enter the status of being homeless were forced to
stay in the centers made for emergency purpose (Lam, Arora and Menchine 2016). Others

stayed on the streets, vehicles, buildings that have been adopted and in the parks. Among the
three primary factors that have led to the people being homeless, the cause of mental illness
in one of those three. The benefit of the proposal lies in its ability to substantiate the fact that
mental illness is one of the contributing factors behind the homeless status of a huge number
of people and draw the concentration toward the issue (Martin 2015).
The research will be feasible, as it would primarily depend upon the primary source of
information especially the surveys and studies conducted in this respect.
Description of the proposed work
The research will primarily depend upon the case studies and surveys as its primary
source of data. As such, the surveys that will be of concern of the researchers would include
the one conducted in the year 2015 in respect of America. Along with that the research will
draw upon the case studies and the secondary resources based on the psychological journals
and other medical doctrines. The research would draw upon the journal of E.Martin
emphasizing the importance of policy in solving the crisis (Martin 2015).
Schedule
The estimated time that will be required to complete the proposed work is 2 to 3
months approximately. However, depending upon the nature of the data and their availability
it might vary.
Cost and resources
The resources would primarily comprises of the surveys as well as the papers
published in the medical journals. The case studies as well as the research paper conducted
previously will also be utilized by the researcher.
