This pilot study examines the effectiveness of a 10-week intervention for young adults aged 15-27 who engage in substance abuse and have mental health issues. The objective was to improve mental health and wellbeing while educating young people in evidence-based coping skills such as relaxation, mindfulness, compassion, and goal setting. The study involved 50 young people, primarily first-year students at Avondale University, who participated in a randomised two-arm controlled trial. The results showed that intervention participants reported significantly better mental health, increased performance, and less anxiety. The study provides the first evidence for the mathematical method applied to the 15-27-year-old age group who identified as abusing substances and having mental health problems.
