METHODOLOGY
In this chapter, I will discuss the methodology I intend to use in data gathering, analysis, and
presentation and provide justification for each of my choices. Having Identified the objectives of
the study, the methodology is designed in such a way that it helps the researcher to achieve the
goals earlier stated.
Research Design
This is applied research, quantitative research methods will be used to examine the relationship
between variables and aimed to analyze and represent that relationship mathematically through
statistical analysis (van der Laken et al., 2018).
Its purpose is geared towards providing information that is required and applied in order to
ensure that the researcher to accurately understand Laser Powder Bed Fusion Additive
Manufacturing.
Research Process

Data Collection and Requirements Gathering
During this research, both primary and secondary data will be collected for analysis.
This involved:
I. Structured online questionnaires—these will be administered to current industry
players with a view to gain more insights into the working of Laser Powder Bed Fusion
Additive Manufacturing. The online questionnaires are chosen because of their
convenience, ability to reach more correspondence and ease of analysis (Siwei and
Xuefei, 2019).
II. Interviews—these are used to gather information mainly from the manufacturing
companies and other experts. Interviews offer a better approach to understanding
technology in question. Open interviews provided an avenue for more explanations
which help the researcher to understand the process better. They also play a very crucial
role in gathering more information that could not be gotten through questionnaires
(Nunamaker et al., 2017).
III. Secondary data collectionThere are existing literature materials that talk about this
technology. In an attempt to find in-depth information, a review of these materials is
done to shade more light and inform the researcher even more. These ranges from
online journals, academic papers, and published books (Kumar, 2011).
Data Analysis and Representation
This involves organizing data collected and breaking it further into smaller parts with meaning
to the researcher. Quantitative data will be analyzed using SPPS software. SPSS allows for a
number of statistical analysis functionalities. Analyzed data will be presented using the
following tools:
i. Tables—to summarize the significant variables.
ii. Pie Charts—to provide a visual representation of the quantitative data.
