INTRODUCTION
There are different functions performed by businesses to achieve its goals. These
functions are very essential for proper function of the organization as each function has its own
importance which cannot be denied. In this Morrison is taken as an organization, which is one of
the largest supermarket chain in UK. This report presents the role of different functional units of
the organization and how they are interlinked. Also, the academic skills and techniques required
in undergraduate student.

Every function has its own importance, a detailed description is given below.
Marketing
Marketing function helps in identifying the customer's needs and wants and based on
which product and service decision is taken (Baker and Hart, 2016). Other roles of marketing are
increasing the market share of the business, promoting and branding the organization and its
products and carrying out effective advertising campaigns to attract more customers. In
Morrison, it's marketing department is well established with highly skilled professional in
different domain in marketing which help in efficient functioning of the department.
Finance
It helps in planning and controlling the business functions. It involves identifying the
financial needs of the organization and sources of funds to execute the plan and other investment
ideas to raise the funds (Fareri and et.al, 2018). The finance team of Morrison is very expert in
this field and works very carefully to reduce the organizations cost and increase profits.
Operation
It involves the planning, organising the and supervising the production process. It
analysis the input-output ratio to improve productivity, timely delivery of the products to the
customers, effective management of inventory and optimization of resources (Greasley, 2019).
All these roles are effectively implemented by Morrison in its organization to improve its
performance (Heizer, 2016).
