MIGRATION PLAN1
Case Study 1:
Develop a settlement plan for this family group based on the provided template or one being
used by a community service organization you are acquainted with
Requirement Activities
Housing, Transportation and Arrangement Seek help with NGO
Interpreter and Local Translator Service Seek help from local translation groups
Orientation Seek help from NGO in creating bank
accounts, getting medication help from the
pharmaceutical shops.
Language Training Local training institutes.
Employment Assistant Coordinate with NGOs and small and
medium scale enterprises.
Childcare Services Make arrangements for children of school
age for child care service and school
service.
Counselling Service Seek help from local counsellors.
Methods to be used to consult with this group around their needs and goals, and to
agree on action plans:
In order to communicate the needs and goals of the family, the family members,
especially the parents will be called and they will be provided information about life in
Canada. They will be informed about the ways they can find employment opportunities,
counselling options in the country, and also how the settlement plan will help them work and
live in Australia peacefully. The methods that can be used for communication of the needs

and goals will include different kinds of orientation workshops, counselling sessions as well
as online information and reading materials. Since these people are not proficient with
English, local translators will also be used in order to convey the message to the family
(Birch, 2014).
Implementation of the Action Plan:
While formulating as well as implementing the action plan, I would need to ensure
that proper financial assistance can be obtained from the government. I would have to send
details of the immigrants, and their health status to the government for funding assistance.
Further, I would seek non-financial assistance from different non-government organizations.
Also, I would seek help from the Refugee Council of Australia so that they can come forward
and voluntarily donate furniture, clothes, etc. to the family. Since the mother and her
children can speak only Dinka, so basic language communication trainers have to be
organized so that they can communicate their needs more freely. Cross-cultural training will
also be organized with the help of different NGOs so that they can be made acquainted with
the Australian culture and values. Further, I would be required to contact different refugee
sponsoring groups so that they can provide medical, personal or housing assistance. Further,
since displacement and apprehension of death have already psychologically affected the
family, I would also seek medical assistance in the form of counselling sessions from
different NGOs. Furthermore, I will also coordinate with Humanitarian Settlement Plan
sponsors, as they on behalf of the Australian government, offer voluntary services that help in
ensuring successful immigrant settlement of the refugees. They will help the immigrants
achieve outcome by providing valuable suggestions regarding housing options, employment
opportunities, and community participation and networking activities.
Ways of Monitoring the Progress of the Settlement Plan:

MIGRATION PLAN3
It is important to monitor as well as evaluate the success of the settlement plan to
understand how far it will be able to achieve success in terms of client outcome. First of all,
one needs to find out whether the immigrant family has received basic amenities within a
week or not. If housing or food amenities are not available, then definitely the settlement plan
is not going well. One also needs to monitor the progress by checking the time required by
the immigrant family for accessing the settlement services necessary for assisting them in
their integration journey (Moore, 2017). Also, the health status of the family members will
also be examined to ascertain whether the quality of settlement plan is good enough to
improve their overall socio-psychological health or not.
Explain how you would access the internal and external resources and referral options:
Internal resources that will be offered to assist the immigrant family will comprise of
the basic help that will be offered to the family. This will include basic healthcare facility,
food and medicine provision and orientation workshops. As far as external resources are
concerned, large- and small-scale companies will be contacted. Large companies will be
asked to sponsor the family needs as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives,
while small or medium scale companies can be asked to provide employment opportunity, if
any, to the elderly members of the family. External resources will also comprise of the
training institutes that will be asked to impart training to the family for induction into the
Australian culture (Wikström & Ahnlund, 2018) .
Cultural sensitivity Adaptation required
Language I would employ the help of some local
translator so that they can help me
communicate effectively with the family.
Culture I would arrange cross-cultural training for
