Proposed Title:
Artificial intelligence in Education system
Abstract
Artificial intelligence is considered as the branch of computer science that majorly focuses on the
formation of machines, thinking, and working like humans. The use of this technology is highly
witnessed in the education system for different activities like grading, homework, tests, lectures and
many others (Subrahmanyam & Swathi, 2018). The use of artificial intelligence provides benefits to the
education system and also brings learning and development for a student. However, it can’t be denied
that the implementation of AI also leads to different challenges. The researcher will research the pros
and cons of Artificial Intelligence in Education system. The research will include the reviews of the
literature on the analysing the benefits and drawbacks of using AI for the education system. In addition
to this, it has been found that how the use of AI is evolving the education system. Different methods,
tools, and strategies will be selected by the researcher as it will be part of methodology which is
essential to decide for conducting the proper research. The research methods that will be selected
include both primary and secondary research method. In addition, the inductive approach will be used
by the researcher. Research design that will be selected by the researcher is mixed research design.
Outline of the Proposed Research
Background
Artificial intelligence or in short AI is an emerging arena of computer science and this focuses on
development of intelligent machines that have the capability to work as well as react as the humans.
This concept of machine learning dates back to as soon as the year 1956 and it was then that
algorithms started being used for interpreting data and for completion of certain smaller tasks (Luckin,
Holmes, Griffiths & Forcier, 2016). Today this technology is made use of for accomplishing various
activities including speech recognition, problem solving, learning and planning. The computer systems
are programmed with various new algorithms to achieve the work that is to done through artificial
intelligence. AI application tool are being commonly used to accomplish various tasks of day-to-day

life such as communication, social networking, travel, online shopping and education. In the realms of
education, artificial intelligence provides both teachers as well as students with wide varieties of tools
that include Google searches, in which there are word suggestions, plagiarism checkers and many
more such as citation generations. At present another application of AI that has become famous is Siri.
Artificial intelligence has made it easy for the education sector to get hold of volumes of information
and this can be said to be lot more advanced than the scenario that existed some 30 years ago (Wogu et
al., 2018). There are various implications of this technology in the educational sectors that include
administrative tasks automation, smart content, smart tutors and personalization, virtual lectures and
many more. But it is not always advantageous as it has quite a lot of disadvantages as well.
Purpose
The primary aim of this research is to figure out the pros and cons of artificial intelligence in the
educational sector.
Rationale
This is an important topic as education is considered one of the main pillars in the growth of any
country. The more a country advances in its education sector the more it flourishes. Artificial
intelligence is an emerging topic and its inculcation in education sector is looked upon by many. There
are many educational institutions that are looking forward to embrace this technology but step back as
they do not have adequate knowledge of the same. This research aims to help these institutions by
providing them with the major pros and cons of Artificial Intelligence in the educational sector.
Research Topic and central research question
1. What is artificial intelligence and why has it become so popular these days?
2. How has the technology helped in bringing in reforms to the existing systems or the ways in which
tasks were done?
3. What are its positive as well as negative impacts on the educational sector?
Methodological Approach
In this research primary as well as secondary research will be done. The research will thus be
benefitted with the advantages of both these type of researches. Primary approach will help in
addressing the specific research issue while the secondary approach will help in accessing the relevant
data in an easy way. The secondary research will include drawing data from academic journals and
other credible sources. The secondary approach will provide deeper insights to the study. Surveys can
be conducted for getting the views of different individuals on this topic (Flick, 2015). The inductive
approach will be used that is observations from various resources will be noted down so that
conclusions can be drawn from these at the end of the research. Primary data will be conducted
through surveys that will include questions on what are the points of view of the participants related to
use of artificial intelligence in education sector. The university or college students will be included in
the online survey as the research is related to the education sector. The perception of the students will
help in understanding the matter better.
