1. Introduction
The initial task is to performing the site survey for the wireless coverage. It is performed at
the selected floor of a building in Sydney campus. The Site survey of wireless signal coverage at
the Building D will be taken by using Ekahau Heat Mapper software. The WLAN deployment
and planning will be performed by WI tuners. A WI tuner is used to capture the signal strength
from the AP (Access Point) in the environment. The auditing and optimization will be run to
validate the design. The result of the site survey will be shown at the Heat Mapper.
2. Wi-Fi Site survey performance using Ekahau Heat Mapper
2.1 Description of Ekahau Heat Mapper
Ekahau Heat Mapper is mapping tool, used to note the Wi-Fi coverage area. It is also used
for planning the Wi-Fi network. It supports at Microsoft windows and Mac OS (Au, 2010). The
features of Ekahau Heat Mapper.

Heat Mapper
Heat Mapper is used to represent the data in two dimensional representations. The data is
present in the color format. It is helpful to understand the complex value. It is very simple to use
and provide the accurate result. Heat maps are used to show the RSSI values. This value is taken
from the client or AP perspective. Heat maps are used to show the data rates. This value is taken
from the client or AP perspective. It is also used to show the QOS performance.

3. Planning and deployment of WLAN
3.1 Description of WiTuners
The WiTuners is used to take the Wi-Fi signal coverage as site survey. The Wi-Fi signal
coverage site survey is held at floor plan. It collects the data from all Access Pont(AP) at
surroundings . WiTuners accepts the user guided deployment as well as automated green field
planning updating and planning (Kushki, Plataniotis and Venetsanopoulos, 2012). After
launching the wizard, it prompts the user to load a scanned copy of the floor plans, to set the
scale, and to set the overall deployment area surrounding the desired structure. One could attach
the file in the format of JPEG or PDF and also it receives XML files that describe structures and
attenuation values.

3.2 Planning wireless network.
WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) has the security, high availability, accessibility
and QOS (Quality Of Service) like the Wired users.
Requirements
WLAN systems run both as an adjunct to the existing wired enterprise network within a branch,
specific teleworker, or secured to applications in the, manufacturing, retail industries. WLAN is used to
permit encrypted, secure, authorized communication for the users. To provide the perfect enterprise

wireless solution, some of components are needed to work collective. The Mobility Services, Network
unification, Access Points, client devices and Network management.
The WLANs is needed to do the following
 To provide the secure enterprise from unsecured, unauthorized activity.

3.3 Deployment of WLAN
The WLAN is application key to business processes. To achieve the required
performance, the planning of network deployment is needed. The signal strength, propagation
conditions, data rate and interference is the key factors for deploying the WLAN. The increased
bandwidth and additional access points in the network affect the WLAN performance. Plan for
deployment generation of WLAN.

 Take the optimal placements and locations in 3D.
 Set the Power and channel parameter, these are the optimal settings.

 Download the Ekahau Heat Mapper from the online. The Ekahau Heat Mapper is
supported only for windows and MACOS.
 Save the downloaded file at the required location.
 After saving, click Run command and press next.
 Press I Agree and install.
 Click finish.
 Select I have a map image.
 choose the floor plan image file from drive, the image file may be in the format of JPEG
and PDF.

4. Conclusion
The Wi-Fi site security is performed using Ekahau Heat Mapper for the Sydney campus floor
plan. The screenshots for that site survey is provided. The WLAN deployment and planning is
performed by using WI tuners. A WI tuner is used to capture the signal strength from the AP
(Access Point) in the environment. The auditing and optimization is used to validate the design.
