TABLE OF CONTENT

INTRODUCTION
MOOC refers to the free courses available online for everyone to enroll. There are
several MOOC platforms through which free courses can be accessed by leaners to
enhance their skills and knowledge. Examples of such platforms are Coursera,
Canvas Network, edX, Udemy, etc.
This chosen MOOC platform for this presentation is courser which was founded in
2012 by professors in Stanford and has become one of the largest massive open
access course provider across the globe.
In this presentation, the discussion would be done pertaining to what actually MOOC
is, how it has evolved and what needs does this platform satisfy for the learners.
Further, after choosing one of the free courses available over courser, critical
evaluation will be done based on 6 elements which involves objectives and rationale
of the course, criteria for entry, registration, enrolment & learning processes in place
which includes user experience, the strategies employed for teaching & learning
along with its pedagogy, methodology for assessment attached to the course and the
last one is the clarity of any progression opportunities.
The chosen course available for free over Coursera is “Financial Markets” offered by
Yale University. This course is meant for building financially savvy leadership skills.

Massive Open Online Course (MOOC)
MOOC or Massive Open Online course refers to the online courses available in the form of video or
where the learning content is in the form of video. These platforms provides opportunity to a large
number of learners across the globe to learn from universities on the top position in the world.
These platforms provide for courses which can be easily accessible by learners without any restrictions
where the course content includes integrated tests & video lectures.
Coursera is one of the MOOC who have partnered with many universities & companies for providing
self-paced & fully remote learnings opportunities which facilitates acquisition of digital certificates at
undergraduate, graduate as well as post graduate levels. In its catalogue, one can find 3900 courses
associated with different specializations at an affordable rates and even for free.
