INTRODUCTION
The present report is about Jack Store new launch of TESCO which will offer discounted
products within store in order compete rivalry within UK Kingdom. TESCO is one of largest
supermarket of UK which have huge customer base. In order to maintain its value among
customers the company have taken initiative to discounted products to customers for influencing
their interest at extent level towards them. For executing activities of these stores it's manager
have decided to motivate employees so that they can work effectively in new stores. This project
will provide explanation about two motivation technique theories and application as well with
context to TESCO.
Motivation and its Importance
Motivation is basically termed as reason which influences individual to behave or act in
certain situation in the particular manner. Individual can gain motivation from anywhere that
means from their core needs or by observing others success. It is highly important for every
business association to motivate its existing workforce at regular basis in order to improvise their
performance as the requirement (Alam and Raut-Roy, 2019). With reference to current case
scenario, it is highly important for the manager of Jack Store to motivate existing workforce of
TESCO for motivating them to work for established and smooth functioning of this new store. In
this regard, the respected management team made use two main motivational technique named as
Maslow's need hierarchical theory and Herzberg theory for motivating their workforce in
lucrative manner. Both the motivational theories along with its application with respect to the
case of Jack Store is stated in below section in effective manner.
Maslow's Need Hierarchy Theory
This motivational theory is mainly based on needs of individual. It states that individual
can only get satisfied after fulfillment of their basic needs. The same satisfaction will be attained
by this person after fulfillment of higher needs that relies between the above range of basic
needs. Maslow's theory has 5 stages which includes Physiological needs, safety and security
needs, social needs, esteem needs and self-actualization (Baker and et. al., 2019). It can be said
that if any company wishes to motivate its employees then they are expected to firstly fulfill
initial need and then move forward towards another one for enhancing level of motivation.
