Introduction Motivation plays a vital role in an organization in increasing the motivation of employees towards conducting the work. There are different types of motivational theories used by the companies in order to performing the various activities effectively. In this report, it will discussed about the strategy taken by Tesco to open a new discount store with a name Jack and compete with the rivalry companies like Lidl and Aldi(Autin and et. al., 2021). Tesco is the third biggest retail store in the world according to gross revenues. It' s headquarter is situated in Welwyn Garden City, UK. Main Body Different motivational theories for Jack discount Stores and to satisfy Tesco management Motivational theory are basically the theories to motivate an individual or a group of people. It is considered as a study which drives a normal person to perform the same activity with more confidence. These theories are used in the organisation to motivate their employees, which will moreover help the company to get more productive and increase the overall efficiency in conducting the work. Herzberg's two factor theory: -This theory was given by Fredrick Herzberg's which states that there are two types of factors. One of the set of factors are called as motivators which consists of the opportunities for growth in the company or recognition at the workplace and the other set of factor are known as hygiene factor(Collie., 2021). Hygiene factor includes the elements such as salary, relationship with the peers in the workplace and working conditions in an organization. Advantages It helps the Tesco discount store Jack to motivate their employees themselves in order to improve the working conditions as well as environment. It enables the jack store manager to know about the adversities of employees and then with the help of this theory reduce the same issues. It helps the seniors of Jack store to distinguish between the factors that main the employees on the job and the factors that motivate the employees on the workplace. This theory enables to measure the employee satisfaction not with the monetary terms rather than it helps to focus on equally vital factors(Gilal and et. al., 2020). 3
Limitations This theory does not states that the increase in employee satisfaction will increase the productivity of the Jack store. This theory ignores the external factors that can have a big impact on conducting the activities in Jack store. It ignores the impact of hygiene factors of motivation and laid down much on the importance of motivators. McClelland need theory: -This theory basically proposes that there are three different types of needs such as need for affiliation, need for achievement and need for power. This theory basically helps the typical managers to determine the needs of employee and provide the abilities to place the employees perfectly in different circumstances. This enables the employees to accomplish the goals in much effective way(Muin and et. al., 2019). Advantages This theory enables the managers of jack discount store to assign the task according to the needs which moreover enables to motivate their employees. This helps the Jack store to basically remove the scope of excuses of employees in performing the assigned activity because the work given to them are according to their capability and need. This theory helps the Tesco discount store to have the satisfied employees that can be great profit for the stores. Limitations This theory enables the Jack store owner to focus more on the needs of affiliation, achievement and power and ignore the basic need such as safety and foods. It is difficult for Jack store to face the situation like if there are 10 positions in the company for people having a need for power but the employees having this quality are more than 20(Ruan., Kang, and Song., 2020). Expectancy theory:-This theory basically depicts that the individuals conduct various specific activities because they think that this will help them in order to get the desirable results. 4

It helps to identify the powerful manager from the group of workers in Jack store. This overall enables to get the most effective employee by considering their expectations. Limitations The major limitation of this theory is that it is difficult to met all the expectations of all the employees of Jack discount store. The another problem with this theory is that while fulfilling the expectations and goals of an individual, it results in Jack store goals being sidelined. It is a very complex procedure to satisfying the needs of every workers in Jack discount store because every one has their own expectation. Conclusion From the above report, it has been analysed that motivational theories are very beneficial foranorganizationinimprovisingtheirproductivityandmotivatingtheiremployeesin performingtheactivitiesmoreeffectively(Stupnisky andet.al.,2018). Ithasalso been concluded that the Tesco new discount store that is Jack uses various motivational theories in order to improve their sales and motivate their workers or employees.
