Introduction
In today's time external and internal factors that have impact on
operations and functions of an organisation. There is relationship
between the organisation and these factors and it is important to
analyze the impact of these factors.
M&S
External Environment
PESTLE Analysis
PESTLE is the factor that analyse external or macro environment factors that effect
on business environment. There are six components in PESTLE analysis, the detail
explanation is mentioned below:
Technological factors: It is the factor that affect through its technological up
gradation. M&S using online stores to provide goods and services with traditions
approach that become negative for their success.
Legal factors: Legal factors is the factor that occur due to laws and regulations.
But in M&S it couldn't find any legal factors.
Economic factors: It is the factor in which organisation get affected by economic
conditions of firm as well as country. M&S is the firm that have competitors which
provide discounts and offers on their products.
Political factors: It include all factors that affect organisation through country's
political stability. Marks & Spencer is the organisation that operates their work in
UK, which is the country that already get affected by Brexit. It is unclear about the
situations that positively or negatively impact on operations of M&S.
Social factors: It is the factor in which organisation get affected by social factors
such as culture, religions, etc. M&S is the firm i.e. non trendy that becomes
negative point for company growth and success.
Environmental Factors: M&S tried to become the sustainable who provide goods
and services that didn't effect on environment negatively.

External factors have impact on business as the company has its
operations world wide, the company has to follow all the policies
and bear the economic conditions and there are many competitors
of the company that they have to make strategies accordingly to
attract more customers. Also they should use technological
advancement to provide better services to the customers.
Internal Factors
Swot Analysis
Strengths:
Marks and Spencer is an old company that has established brand
name since 136 years and is one of the leading business in retail
industry in United Kingdoms.
It has global presence offline and is also serving the market through
online mode. It has around 1436 outlets around the world and is able
to fulfil the needs and demands of customers effectively.
Weaknesses:
People have formed an image that the company is not trendy and do
not offer variety to teenagers and young people.
One of the main weakness of company is that they do not use
technology and rely on manual work that is more time taking and is
also costly.
Opportunity:
The company has good brand image and has operations in many
countries and also has opportunity to expand at various other places.
The company has online presence and the company can have
presence on other e-commerce stores
