1Chronic illness Research topic- Role of electrotherapy for treating sports injuries, related to muscle, tendons,joints, ligaments, spinal discs, cartilage and bones.Sports therapies generally involve the musculoskeletal disorders like ankle sprain, low back pain,spinal dysfunction and other sports related muscle injuries. Sports therapy is mainly associatedwith the prevention of injury in sports person and rehabilitation of the patient with back to thenormal levels of occupational, functional and fitness that is sports specific, irrespective of theage, sex and ability. There are various sports therapy techniques, but the topic for the researchproposal is electrotherapy. Electrotherapy is a type of medical treatment that involves the use of small electric impulses inorder to repair torn tissue, stimulate the muscles, raise the muscular sensation , muscle strengthand ease out the pain. Several forms of electrotherapy can be used in case of sports injury, which includes-Ultrasound therapyTranscutanous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS)Laser therapyMuscle stimulation therapy.Interferential therapyThe ultrasound therapy involves the use of sound waves for healing muscle and ankle sprains,TENS and interferential therapy helps to reduce the pain by manipulating the nerves, producing atingling effect.
