American and is owned by Sony Inc.
• Sony Music operates in Europe, Asia, Australia, and
America.
• The company operates in music industry as the record
label for musicians.
• It employs more than 8,200 people in its music
sections around the world.
• The turnover for the company has been on the decline
since the emergence digital music and as at March
2019 it was $3.8 billion. The revenue represents an 8.6
percent drop year-over-year (Sanchez, 2019, par. 1).
• I work as sales representative in Brisbane, Australia.

• The music market has been growing over
decades with better technologies of music
production and distribution.
• According to IFPI Global Music Report (2019),
music revenues of $19.1 billion represent a
growth by 9.7 percent.
• More than 34.0 percent growth is contributed
by development in internet streaming.
• The growth in music is largely attributed by
the digital music streaming and downloads.

1), show that music industry has been growing since
2016 after over a decade decline in sales.
• The increase in revenues is contributed by interactive
streaming services offered by YouTube, Spotify, Apple
Music and Amazon. The services represent 63
percent of the total music revenues.
• The shift in the market has contributed to relegation
of CDs and drop in music downloads in paid channels
such as iTunes. Rosenblatt (2019, par. 3) observed
that CD sales has dropped below $1 billion in 2017
and with revenues falling to $708 million in 2018.
