INTRODUCTION Knowledge refers to familiarity or awareness about something.It can be acquired through education or through experience(Ayllón, Gómez and Ballesta-Claver, 2016). Creativity refers to a phenomenon through which something new and valuable is formed which can be a new idea. Both of them are required at the university level to attain the level of success. In this report, discussion will be made about the ideal job after graduation, the description of the job. Additionally, the qualifications for the job and the resources to be used for finding employment after the completion of education will be analyzed as a part of this assignment. MAIN BODY My ideal job My ideal job which I would prefer after completing my graduation from the university is that of a floral designer. A floral designer is a person who arranges flowers in a particular pattern for arrangements at different types of events. I am interested in this job because my interest has always been in designing which has been my hobby. I like to use my creativity to create new ideas and thus this field is quite suitable for me. This is so because in this field, creative professionals are highly valued because they bring with them their own and new ideas which can be used to provide the satisfaction to clients as per their needs and requirements. The future prospects in this field are very bright because people now like to spend on specific flower designs according to the event which they are organizing(Bodla and et.al., 2018). For this they require the services of florists. If the required experience is available in this field then a florist can earn a substantial amount of money every month from the orders taken from the clients. Also the reputation and the goodwill in the market is very important in this field as positive reviews given by customers and clients are likely to fetch more orders which will help in the long-run. Job description A florist has to perform the required job according to the requirements of customers and clients which hold supreme value for him/her. The skills which are required in order to perform this job are as follows- Knowledge- Knowledge about the flowers is a must for any florist(Cropley, 2016). This is the primary requirement to enter this field. A florist needs to have enhanced knowledge about the different types of flowers which are available and has to make arrangements of them according to the nature and the theme of event. Thus it is a must for choosing this job.
Creativity- Creativity is very much essential in order to become a successful florist (Giustiniano, Lombardi and Cavaliere, 2016). A florist needs to be highly creative with ideas and must be able to constantly think and implement new ideas about design of flowers which can catch the attention of people who come for the event. Thus being creative with the ideas is necessary for this job. Innovation- Innovation is required for the job of florist. It is necessary to apply the innovative criteria which are so essential for the success of different types of events. Innovation in this field can include selecting wide range of flowers, arranging them as per the requirements of the client and constantly developing a new approach for attracting the attention of people at the event. Customer-service-Floral designjobsare highlydependentupon serving of the customers and clients. Customers are very much valuable in this field as through their references the florists are likely to get new orders and jobs. Thus it is important that the customers are satisfied effectively so that they give positive reviews which can put an influence over the other customers who will also opt for services. Organizing skills- Organizing skills are a must for a florist(Groza, Locander and Howlett, 2016). He/She needs to quickly understand the nature of the event which the client is organizing and what kind of flowers will be suitable for the event. Furthermore, these skills are required so that there are no problems in arrangement and there is no mismanagement. There are different duties of a floral designer which include the following- To buy flowers and other related products from the wholesalers and to ensure that supply meets the requirements of customers and clients. To determine the type of flower decoration arrangement needed. This is as per the requirements which are stated by the client. Florists have to firstly identify what the client wants and according to his/her needs and requirements create a design which can satisfy him/her and can look pleasing. The customer’s budget has to be identified by florists. According to this budget, the steps are taken by the florists to choose the flowers according to the budget of client. If the budget of client is limited, then they need to choose those flowers which are cheaper and if the budget of customer is higher than they can choose expensive flowers also. Floral displays need to be displayed which can evoke a particular sentiment or style. This is required in order to work according to the theme which has been selected by the client for the event. Florists have to maintain their orders as and when they are given by the clients. This will help them in discharging their duties effectively as per their needs and requirements. If there is a need significant improvements may be suggested to them so that they can enhance their skills effectively without any problems. If they are able to improve their skills and capabilities as per the improvements which are suggested then it will lead to their successful future in this field as they will easily satisfy the clients and will earn a substantial amount of money working in this industry and their image will enhance. Gaining experience- For florists, it is recommended that they gain experience by working as an intern or doing an articleship in a floral design shop(Imran, M. K. and et.al., 2018). This will enable them to get relevant experience for this job and they will be able to perform it effectively meeting the specifications of the client. The person specifications for this role are as follows- Smart personality- Smart and pleasing personality is a must for this job(Muqadas, Ilyas and Aslam, 2016). There should be a smile on the face and a person should always be ready to serve the customers. Willing to work in any environment- The job of a florist is such that there is a requirement that he/she must be able to adjust and willing to work in any environment. If a person is ready to do this then he/she is unlikely to face any problems in performing the job as per the requirements. Different events are organized in various places by clients and thus travelling is also a requirement for this job. Therefore the candidate who wishes to choose this role as a career should make a note that he/she maybe required to travel a lot for performing this role at different locations of events. The qualifications required are as follows- Educational requirements- Most of the florists need to have a high school diploma or a GED. Thus finishing high-school education is the minimum requirement for becoming a florist.
Training- To become an expert flower designer proper training and guidance are extremely essential. There should be a talent and enthusiasm to work with flowers. Also, training is a must for developing creative and innovative ideas for floral designs. Certification- A certification of undergoing training at a particular reputed floral shop with an expert florist will be a plus for this job. This will help in setting up of own shop and also in getting the required orders for successfully running the business. Artistic abilities- Artistic abilities are required in order to become a florist. This is so because creative and innovative designs have to be met according to the specifications which are provided by the client. The resources which are available for employment purposes include the following- Social media- Social media is a very useful resource for employment-related purposes (Rhee, Y. W. and Choi, J. N., 2017). It can be used effectively by the people seeking job. Its usage can allow the job-seekers to find out a job according to their requirements. Advantages- It is very useful tool which can be used effectively in order to find out jobs. It can be helpful in development of the required skills. Disadvantages It cannot substitute physical job search. It cannot tell much about the company where the job is required. Placement firms- Placement firms are useful for candidates as they take their data and resume and act as mediator between job-seekers and job-providers(Shahzad, K. and et.al., 2016). Therefore they are quite useful for the candidates after they finish their university education. Advantages- They act as perfect mediators as they help both employers and candidates. They can help the candidates in getting a job as per their skills. Disadvantages- They charge hefty commission on their services. Sometimes they get the candidate recruited in the wrong company which does not meets the skills the candidate has for the job.
Online job portals- Online job portals are helpful for the candidates in finding out the right job. Thus they are very useful for the candidates (Looking for a job? 7 resources you should be using, 2017). Therefore, these portals can be used by them for their job search and getting a job as per their requirements. Advantages- They act as a bridge between employers and candidates. They are beneficial for both employers and candidates as they provide the best candidates to the employers. Disadvantages- These portals charge a heavy amount for providing their services. Sometimes they provide wrong candidates to a company and get candidates placed in a wrong company. As I wish to enter into the field of florists, I would use these resources effectively so that they are useful for me to meet my requirements easily. I would use social media, placement firms and online job portals so that I can catch the attention of big firms which deal in this business. I hope that they find my skills useful for them and thus I would be able to get a big role in a reputed firm. After gaining relevant experience by working in a flower design firm I would like to set up my own business in the near future so that I become self-dependent and use my skills with perfection to build my own client base. CONCLUSION From the above report, it can be concluded that knowledge and creativity is required to succeed at the university level. Also, these skills are essential to get a good job after the completion of education. By using these skills effectively and efficiently a person can succeed in the job role and can make a bright future. Thus for students studying at the university it is recommended that they effectively develop these skills in the future which will help them to succeed.
