Tobacco smoke is the second highest risk
factor which increases the mortality rate
worldwide.
According to researches the percentage of
smokers in Saudi Arabia is around 35% - 45%
among adult males, 24 % in preparatory
schools' male students and 8 % in female
students.
Islam have originated or it’s birthplace is the
Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The teaching Islam
restricts the use of any bad component which can
harm the health of an individual.

OVERVIEW
The purpose of this Law is to fight Smoking by
taking all mandatory actions at the state,
community and specific levels, to diminish all bad
Smoking habits among the population of all age
group.

HISTORY
Before 2010, Saudi Arabia had no laws which restricted smoking.
By 2010-2011 the Saudi Arabia airports, King Fahd University and Umm al-Qura
University started making laws to restrict smoking.
In 2012 Prince Ahmed bin Abdulaziz Al Saud (1975-2012)(Deputy minister of Saudi Arabia)
banned smoking in the public places and in governmental, public and private buildings.
The Royal Decree No. 56, Anti-Smoking Law is
the legislation responsible for the no-smoking
zones; marketing, campaign and funding; and
packaging and labeling.
The Executive Regulations initiated in the year 2017 under
the Anti-Smoking Law. It contains all the requirements in
the detailed format regarding the no-smoking zones;
marketing, campaign and funding; and packaging and
labeling.
