Purpose of the assessment This unit covers the competency to recognize potential health
and safety risks and take action to eliminate or control those risks
at incident scenes, to prevent injury to self, other personnel or
members of the public. This unit applies to all public safety
workers attending an incident scene, and links to the individual’s
responsibility to maintain personal safety and to be aware of how
actions affect the safety of others, including team members, other
agency workers, and general public.

Purpose of assessment This unit covers the competency to inspect, maintain and test a range of
equipment according to organization’s procedures. It applies to
individuals who perform a range of mainly routine tasks and generally
work under direct supervision using limited practical skills and
fundamental knowledge.

For this unit, students are required to submit documentation as well as evidence which possess the
potential to meet the requirements of each element in the unit along with satisfying the specific
performance evidence needs. Students are requested to provide us with as much evidence possible in order
to support your claim for the RPL.
 Safety considerations
All the students will be assessed during the time of the assessment by the assessor.
All the students will be warned about any kinds of hazards present in the room during the time of
interview or assessment.

In case any student is able to gain satisfactory marks after his or her 1st completed submission, he/she will
be provided with a second chance of resubmission. However, this time they have to work only on the
questions they have not gained satisfactory marks.
