Name: Tutor: Course: Date: Argument Reconstruction The lord is the one who gives the understanding to faith. Therefore grant the knowledge to know that what we believe you are is true and that you are indeed that we believe.(Introduction to philosophy Stanford university) We are certain that the lord is something than which nothing greater can be achieved. A stupid person mentioned in his soul that there is no God. This makes us wonder if there is such any nature. The same fool however understands when we talk of having nothing that is great that can be conceived. Therefore the thing that he understands is based on the doings that he sees but does not base it on the person that did it. There is a difference for one to declare that he understands something based only on his own understanding and not that which is there.(Descartes, René) We are certain that this same person is sure that nothing great can be conceived through his own understanding. This is because of the reason that he only understands it when it is mentioned and the ting that he understands is based on his own thinking and understanding.

It is correct to say therefore that this greater thing which is unconceivable cannot only make sense based on his understanding. The fact that it makes sense when it comes to understanding means that it can also be viewed in reality and therefore it is greater. Thus if we advance the argument that for one who is great to be understood only in the context of ones understanding while ignoring other factors, it would be wrong in the sense that that person has to literally exist in order for him to be great. Therefore it is impossible for one not to exist but to be viewed as understandable.(Edwards, Rem) Thus, or anything to be understood as of being great it has to exist and as such one cannot say that God is great without him existing. It is therefore absurd to think of God as not existing. There would be a great confusion if we say that we only understand God on the great things he has done but not recognize that he is there. This does not hold water as there is no way one can purport to appreciate the wonders that are present but fail to embrace the fact that the person doing those things is present. Therefore it is important to state that the greatness of God is something that no one can even afford to wish away and thus even think that he does not exist at all. Thus the Lord our God is so truly that he cannot be thought not to be. It is totally absurd for some mind to conceive something that is better than you as it would be rising and judging its creator.
Therefore, the Lord God of all creation exists in a high manner and thus everything else has less being. It should be straightforward to any sane person that the Lord exists well above everything else. Therefore the fool will be stupid and foolish to say that God is not. It is difficult to understand how a fool will be able to state things that he himself cannot be able to prove about God. We also fail to understand how it is possible that one cannot attest to what he says and what he understands in relation to Gods existence. Thus there is no one who can claim that he understands the workings of God and at the same time imply that the same God is not there. The only possible explanation is for one to state these words with the basis that it bears no meaningful meaning or some other irrational explanation.(Kim, Jaegwon) Conclusion Therefore even though one may not want to believe that God is, he would be unable not to understand it. Also, something that can be conceived and understood is that which cannot possibly, not be. The one who conceives of this conceives something greater than he who conceives of that which has the possibility of not being Therefore, if one conceives that it has the possibility of not being, he will at the same time not be conceiving of that than which a greater cannot be conceived.
The same thing cannot be both conceived and not conceive at the same time. Therefore the one who conceives of that than which a greater cannot be conceived is not actually conceiving of what can but of what cannot possibly not be. Thus, what one is conceiving must necessarily exist as whatever is not able to exist is not that of which he is conceiving God is that which a greater cannot be achieved Therefore anyone who understands this will know for sure that the lord is present in a design that makes it impossible to think he doesn’t. We can be certain for sure that whoever appreciates Gods doings is therefore bound to also appreciate that indeed God is there.(Stewart, David)
