INTRODUCTION
As per the National Immunization Program Schedule developed and implemented by the Australian
healthcare department so that people could be protected from the critical and infectious diseases.
As mentioned by the Australian Healthcare department, immunization protects humankind from a wide
range of infectious diseases, spread by virus and bacteria such as Ebola, Zika, HIV AIDS, flu, chicken
pox, measles and whooping cough .
Further, there are several vulnerable age groups and conditions in which vaccination becomes crucial
such as childhood, older persons, pregnancy in which it is important to be vaccinated properly.
Name of the policy and the important aspects
The policy that I would be discussing in this section would be the
“National Immunization Program or NIP”.
This new policy would help to protect the children from, critical
infectious viral and bacterial diseases such as meningococcal,
pneumococcal and Haemophilus influenzae type b.
This also mentioned that the age of infant pneumonia vaccination
would be commenced from 2 months and would be boosted at 4
and 12 month of age.
Further , for meningococcal infection, infants would be vaccinated
from 12 months of age.
Further, the dose f monovalent Haemophilus influenzae type b
would be given from 18 month of age .
Three primary aspects of the policy that would be used
Chosen groups for the health promotion
The group that would be chosen for the health promotional program
would be the children.
Rate of immunization among children in Australia is suffering from
inequality as majority of the aboriginal individuals are unable to
receive their immunization properly.
The rate of aboriginal immunization is 92% compared to 94% of the
rest Australia individuals.
Despite the fact that majority of the diseases are covered under the
free of cost immunization program implemented by federal
government of Australia, the rate of immunization varies.
Hence, this age group has been chosen for the health promotional
program.
Two aspects that would inhibit this group
Chosen location and the reason
The chosen location for health promotional program would be
Queensland , North Australia as this location includes a large
proportion of Australian aboriginal population.
The current rate of immunization in Queensland is 90% and
this is much lesser than the national rate of 94%. Hence, this
location would be chosen for the health promotional program
related to immunization.
The three primary aspects that would be implemented in the health
promotional program for the children would be spreading
awareness, educating people about the importance of it and then
implementing the strategy by increasing the availability of it.
Awareness is the most important aspect that would help people to
understand the importance of it and they would be able to connect
to the immunization process and protocols.
With increased medical literacy, they would be able to spread the
knowledge to their society and community and eventually the
awareness would spread to the ground level of the society.
The third aspect of this process is related to the increased facilities
for immunization n areas where immunization rate and disease
prevalence is higher.
Despite the healthcare programs and campaigns developed for the
health literacy and awareness of this age group and associated
individuals, the rate of immunization requires to be improved.
The first reason would be lack of awareness among the lower and
middle income societies that are unable to connect to the
mainstream communities. This would prevent the communities to
connect with the immunization drive.
The second aspect would be lack of availability of immunization
campaigns in remote areas would also prevent the population to
avail their immunization rights
