Explain the idea of global citizenship
Global citizenship means that all people must have common civil rights and
responsibilities all over the world. They should not be restricted to citizen of only particular
country. In 21st century the global citizenship approach contains some accountability that is
applied in every nation (Dower and Williams, 2016). The concept is to build a sustainable
world. It helps individuals to think about what equality is. It will enable in creating a positive
impact on humanity. They will be able to share common beliefs, values, ethics, etc. besides this,
it can help in enhancing lifestyle of society and consumer choices. The human rights can be
empowered and used in positive way. it can help a community to engage with organisations and
try to bring global change. Furthermore, global issues can be solved in effective manner. This
will also be beneficial in respecting others.
A global citizen having identity will learn skills and ethics of other countries.
There has been rise in gap between rich and poor. Thus, global citizenship can be applied
to reduce gap and removing disparities with each other (Gaudelli, 2016). there should be a fix
goal for promoting this concept. the main reason is to promote happiness. Therefore, it can be
said that idea of global citizenship is to bring together to create a global community. UNICEF is
making efforts to launch educational programs related to it. this will help students to acquire
skills and values.
