IMPORTANCE OF NEEDS AND LEARNER ANALYSIS
This is the systematic process by which instructional materials are designed, developed
and delivered. .An instructional designer will uses instructional technology to develop
instructions. For the success of the project as a lead instructional designer, having learner
analysis before moving into design phase will be very important. These is because the learner
analysis will identify whom our audience are, their social and physiological needs, demography,
among others. The learner analysis can be done through surveys. The general demographic
information of our audience will be important as it will be easy to identify the learner so as to get
ideas on how they will be taken through.
Learner needs and analysis is important in identifying the areas of knowledge and
behavior that a specific training process will deliver. It is therefore very important to have a clear
understanding of the expected outcomes. This can only be achieved through needs and learner
analysis. Through learner analysis, it is possible to establish the level of experience and
intellectual skills of the personnel which is very important when planning to organize
instructional materials. The activity choices taken during the training are directly influenced and
planned according the intellectual abilities of the of the audience. We can there reliably and
confidently minimize consequences of difficulties that would arise due to the complexity of the
design.

abilities, and knowledge of the employees should be established. This should be done in line
with organizational goals and objectives, the climatic conditions, internal and external
constraints among others. With the help of such information, its easy to set/ design instructions
that meets the expectations of the organization.

situation, we therefore have to establish the required basics in accomplish the tasks.

set may include, the executive pressure, the legal conditions, the cost effectiveness of the
identified skills and methods to be used, and others.
Learner analysis is also important in assessing the possibility of the need for subject-
matter experts in the future. It is typically true that if there will need for a subject expert, the
structure of the class will have to be designed in consideration of this.
