NETWORK INFRASTRUCTURE AND CONFIGURATION1
Summary
Based on research publications conducted over the recent years there is found to
be a growing importance on efficient network designing, choice of routing
protocol, VLANs and ACL configuration setting up optimal secured network
infrastructures. First the report is to analyse the requirements of Telstra formerly
Bigpond based on network workflow gathered from site visit. Then the report is
to present the network design for Telstra and justify it followed by IP addressing
details in tabular format. Next the routing and ACL configuration are to be
mentioned before laying out full configuration of routers and switches. After that
the configuration of wireless access points, hosts and servers is to be discussed.
Then after the scheduling and budgeting details, the report ends with
conclusions.

NETWORK INFRASTRUCTURE AND CONFIGURATION3
Introduction
The following report showcases the growing importance of efficient
network designing, choice of routing protocol, VLANs and ACL configuration
setting up optimal secured network infrastructures. The report starts by
analysing the requirements of Telstra formerly Bigpond based on network
workflow gathered from site visit. Then the report presents the network design
for Telstra and justifies it followed by providing IP addressing details in tabular
format. Next the routing and ACL configuration are mentioned before laying out
full configuration of routers and switches. After that the configuration of wireless
access points, hosts and servers get discussed. Then after the scheduling and
budgeting details, the report ends with conclusions.
Analysis of Requirements
To transform the network for Telstra, formerly Bigpond the proposed network
must support both wired as well as wireless devices.
Wireless access points installed within the network must provide network
connectivity for a range of wireless devices for network administrators as well as
public hotspots throughout the city.
The network segments of the company should be able to send and receive
messages to the other network segments across the city but ICMP
communications between the devices of these segments must be prohibited for
security reasons.
Wireless access points put up in various places should be able to route and
subnet connections so these can set up dedicated subnets whenever required for
serving the wireless devices.
Each network segment in every branch requires to have a dedicated server for
meeting the network requirements in serving the customers.
