1. Executive Summary
This report is prepared with an aim of identifying the leadership styles that is
needed to lead a team in an effective manner. There are certain characteristics that
a leader needs to possess in order to ensure that the leader is capable of motivating
the team in working for successful completion of the project. The report will be
discussing the issues that can arise if the project leader does not perform his/her
work as expected. The report is linked with a case study that denotes that emotion
driver leaders to be the best project managers. The report provides an idea of the
different leadership styles articulated by Charles Pellerin. The said leadership styles
are indicated in the case chosen. The report aims in examining the leadership styles
that can help a team in leading a project in a successful manner. Team motivation
is one of the most important factors behind making a group of individuals work as a
team. The report with further evaluate the leadership styles that can contribute to
project success. The report will conclude, by discussing the major ethical issues
associated with the Hubble telescope launch case and the possible solutions that
could have mitigated the major ethical issue related to the Hubble Telescope launch
case.
2. Leadership Issues
Leadership is a term that encompasses the activities related to team
motivation and making a group of individuals work as a team. A project can be
successfully completed only if the team is led by an effective leader. An ineffective
leader can lead to increase in a number of problems related to project execution
and management [2]. The team lacks motivation is the leader of the team is
ineffective. An ineffective leader is least interested in team building and team
motivation that magnifies even the small issues in the team. An ineffective leader is
generally not capable of dispute resolution that leads to the increase in the issues in
the team [8]. The inefficiency of the leader in leading a project team can result in
the increase in delays in the project. The project delays can significantly lead to
increase in the project budget. It is therefore quite essential for the project team to
choose an effective leader who can help motivating the team and can further help
in dispute resolution [6]. A project leader further should have an idea of the skills
and competencies of the team members so that team management becomes
