Question 4: Telephone and Internet Connectivity
The above network diagram shows how the internet and telephone services are shared
among the Admin and Data Entry departments (Aye, Soe and Soe 2019). Here the client PCs
of the departments get their access to the network connection through the IP phones
connected to the layer 2 switch of the respective departments. These layer 2 switches each
have 24 ports. This lets the network provide telephone and network connectivity to 18
administrator hosts from the Admin switch and to 20 data entry hosts from the Data Entry
switch in the manner showed above. This connectivity among the two departments is ensured
through the VOICE VLAN.
The network also employs another VLAN named Data to provide connections
including wireless network access for smartphones or laptops in the reception. The network is

configured to have inter VLAN routing between these two VLANs such that hosts of both the
Admin department as well as the Data Entry department using VOICE VLAN are able to
ping the hosts connected in the reception through the Data VLAN (Odi, Nwogbaga and
Chukwuka 2015). The VOICE VLAN has sequence number 20 and hence the network used
here is 192.168.20.0 while the sequence number of Data VLAN is 10 so the network used by
the reception is 192.168.10.0.

Ping between Different VLANs
The sales team is operating from beyond the corporate network of the company and
uses the network 192.168.1.0. The Sales network uses the ISP to remotely connect to the
corporate network. The IP used by the Sales team to connect to the ISP router is 10.10.202.6
while the corporate network uses 10.10.202.2 to connect to the ISP.
