Background and Goals:
NASS Incorporated is situated in Adelaide, South Australia. The organization provides
satellite data services to its consumers. The organization has two core processes such as
constructing and testing satellite modems and receiving data from satellite regarding
storage/processing and forwarding to clients. The organization is willing to establish network
between two buildings. The headquarter building is located at Mawson Lakes, Adelaide and the
sales office is at the city centre of Adelaide. Headquarter has research and administrative staff.
Sales office has sales, administrative and senior management staff. There is also a training room
in the head office which has twenty five computers.
The objective of the report is to provide an overview of the network that will be installed
in NASS Incorporated. The report will state the requirements of the system and the assumptions
made to gather the requirements.
Assumptions:
The first assumption made is each employee of NASS Incorporated will have one
personal computer and one mobile device. It is assumed that every department has fifty
members. The mobile device will be connected to network through Wi-Fi connection. The
organization does not specify the amount of devices needed for specific departments. Therefore,
the first assumption is that fixed amount of computers are available in the system. It is also
assumed that each department will have a Wi-Fi access point for connecting to mobile devices.
The organization network will be using VLAN technology for assigning IP addresses to the
devices. The organization needs additional IP addresses that required so that unallocated IP
address can be assigned to later installed devices. Wireless connection is required to meet the

future requirements of NASS Incorporated network. The available WAN connections are capable
of meeting the requirements of data transmission. Two building will have different allocated
network. The network will divide the allocated IP network into subnet for brining all the devices
in the same network. The personal computers will be connected to the routers using physical
cables. Each department will have one Ethernet switch and one Wi-Fi router. There will be one
router in each department. This router will be connected to the Ethernet switch installed in each
department. This switch will be main switch. The switch connected to PC and the Wi-Fi router
will be connected to the main switch.
Requirements:
Each department has fifty staff. Because of this, the required IP addresses for each
department except the training room is 100. An Internet Service Provider or ISP is required to
provide basic internet connection to connect the main router to the internet. Both the offices will
use the same ISP. The internet will allow the offices to connect to the system implemented in the
cloud. The cloud based system will be the base of the communication among the offices. The
WAN is implemented using that cloud approach. The network requirement is two routers, six
Ethernet switches, 275 personal computers, five Wi-Fi access points, additional free IP addresses
for future expansion.
