NETWORKED APPLICATIONS
Introduction
The report is prepared for reviewing the functionality and features of OpManager
and finding its application for monitoring network for a business. Many of the
business organization is reliable on the network for the management of the
operation and thus network monitoring is essential for identifying the multifold
challenges in managing network. The network administrator has the
responsibility to actively analyse the performance of the network and
OpManager can be used by them for monitoring the devices such as routers,
switches, WLAN, load balancer, physical and virtual servers, storage device and
other network device that are connected with the business network framework.
OpManager can help in monitoring the network continuously and help the
network admin to get an in-depth control and visibility over the network. If a fault
is identified in the network the root cause of the fault can be easily determined
and eliminated for reducing the effect of the fault and improve the efficiency and
performance of the network. There are different network monitoring features
that can be utilized with the use of OpManager for reducing the downtime of the
network and get the visibility of the network infrastructure of the business
organization. Some of the key features of OpManager includes:
VoIP Monitoring
Network Mapping
VMware monitoring
Advanced Security Analytics
Module
Cisco NBAR reporting
Switch Port & IP Address
Management
Comprehensive Data Centre
Infrastructure Management
Network Health Monitoring
Server Monitoring
Hyper-V Monitoring
Network Traffic Analysis
DIY Deployment
Network Configuration

NETWORKED APPLICATIONS
For a network it is essential to make performance audits and analysis of the real
time data such that the statistics of utilization of network resources can be
identified. Command line interface was used by the network administrator for
getting information about the port and checking the current performance.
OpManager has built in real time network monitoring functionality that helps in
generating graph and instant report about the performance of any network
device connected in the network. It does not require any third party device for
getting access of a remote device and the real time graph can be launched for
analysing the performance degradation of a network. The health information and
other details of the device can also be found that helps in managing the real
time network performance.
The OpManager can also help in getting information about the CPU and Memory
utilization of a network device and information about any performance metrics of
a network device. The bandwidth usage and real time traffic on an interface of
the network device can also be monitored. The performance graph of the
network can be configured as a dashboard widget that helps the administrator
for tracking the live performance of the network as they login into the
OpManager account.
- Physical and Virtual Server Monitoring
For the management of virtual server and monitoring their performance at a real
time the virtual server management can help in solving and identifying the
performance issues. It also helps in optimizing the utilization of resources and
preventing failure of hardware for maintaining the peak performance of the
virtual server. There are different challenges faced by the enterprises for
improving server performance and maximizing the utilization of the server. The
virtual server is used for running multiple application and operating system with
fewer resources and it helps in faster deployment and energy savings. For
increasing the utilization of hardware resources multiple instance can run on a
physical server and the single NIC card on the server can cause bottleneck and
traffic congestion. The workloads that are sensitive to latency may crash or
generate error and this is needed to be avoided with monitoring the workload on
physical and virtual server. OpManager can be used for virtual server
management for identifying the bottleneck and troubleshooting the performance
issues. It can also be used for monitoring hybrid virtualization environment with
the key metrics such as processor, disk, network and memory usage. The
