NETWORKING 1
Question 1: Layers of OSI and TCP/IP model
OSI model
It is defined as an open systems interconnection model that standardizes
the interaction functions of computer networks. There are following layers
involves in the relation of the OSI model:
Application layer
Presentation layer
Session layer
Transport layer
Network layer
Datalink layer
Physical layer
TCP/IP model
It defines a set of design guidelines and development of particular networks
protocols and numerous layers include in this model including:
Application layer
Transport layer
Internet layer
Link layer [2].
Question 2: OSI model related to the TCP/IP
It is argued that there are 4 major layers used in the TCP while the OSI
model contains 7 layers for performing data communication effectively. In
the context of the OSI model upper 3 layers (application, presentation and
session layers) are connected with the application layer of the TCP model
for performing data communication. Therefore, using the application layer

of TCP the consumers can connect three upper layers of the OSI model
effectively [3].
Question 3: Network support layers
It is examined that in the relation of TCP/IP model three major layers
defined as the network support layers including physical, network and data
link layers [1]. It is true that the utilization of network support layer
consumers may interconnect computing networks with the main server
while the user support layer provides a way for performing data
configuration in an effective manner [4].
Question 4: data encapsulation
In the relation of TCP/IP and OSI protocol suite, the term data
encapsulation refers to the communication technique utilized for developing
module network procedures [5]. In the case of data encapsulation, the
logically separate procedures are abstracted from the structure by using
the inclusion approach. Using such a process consumers can implement an
effective data communication protocol and reduce the connectivity related
issues efficiently.
Question 5: responsibilities of the data link
It is examined that the data link is an appropriate layer of the OSI protocol
suite which is mainly responsible for the flow of data, framing of protocols,
access control, managing errors in the data communication systems. It is
determined that the data link has the capability to transforms the physical
layer into the appropriate manner [6].
Question 6: network and transport layer
It is argued that the network layer is associated with the data packets used
in the computing networks while the transport layer is associated with the
