INTRODUCTIONEpilepsy is considered as a sort of neurological disorder in which all the activities relatedto the nerve cell is being interrupted and disturbed and it also causes seizures, which is a sort ofelectric activity inside the brain (Kwan, Schachter and Brodie, 2011). It impacts on the way howa person acts but it is for a shorter period only. There are two types of seizures, caused byepilepsy, generalised and the partial ones in which the generalised ones are responsible foraffecting the whole brain whereas the partial ones are responsible for affecting only one part ofbrain. The research paper is about various factors of epilepsy including its causes, symptoms andtreatment as well. Causes It has been observed that epilepsy can be caused by any factor that disturbs the generalstructure or pattern of the neuron activities. Although there are various causes which leads toepilepsy but some factors play a major role in causing the disorder and these are discussed asunder:Brain conditionsThe disorder also depends on the condition of the brain. Like in case when someone isalready suffering from strokes or brain tumours which causes some sort of damage to the brain,in that case also, it can result in epilepsy. Out of all these, stroke is considered as the leadingcause that plays a major role in causing epilepsy. Specially, it is observed in the adults of age 35or over. Infectious diseasesWhen a person is already suffering from any of the infectious diseases such as AIDS,meningitis etc., then there are huge chances of the person getting epilepsy because it disturbs thefunctioning of the neuron activities in the brain. Prenatal injuryBefore the birth of a baby, they are more sensitive and prone to various damagesincluding the brain damage as well. The damage may be caused by various factors such as themother might be suffering from any infection or the mother might be very weak and does nottake a proper and balanced intake of diet. If proper oxygen amount is not provided to the baby inthe womb, it may also affect the brain of the baby, causing damages which further results inepilepsy or in cerebral palsy as well. 1

Dementia or Alzheimer's diseaseDementia is considered as a disorder in the memory and brain of a person which makesvarious interruptions in their daily life. It actually decreases the ability of a person to think andunderstand properly (Engel, 2013). Dementia is also considered as a factor for causing epilepsybecause it affects the brain to a that extent that it loses its capability to analyse things properly.Alzeimer's diseases is also a sort of dementia that only worsens with time. In this also, the personstarts forgetting even the basic details, so it creates issues with memory, behaviour andunderstanding as well. In this also, the brain and the neuronal activities are being affected whichfurther can cause epilepsy. Family historyIf one has a family history of epilepsy, then there are more than half of the chances thatthe child will also be having epilepsy at the time of birth or even can happen at any time duringthe whole lifetime. In case when the disorder is because of the family history, in that case, theperson may face an increased rate of seizures. Although, some do not realise it is because of thegenes but they can develop the seizure disorder at maximized rates. High feverIt has been observed that the children who have seizures because of the high fever areless prone to epilepsy but the risk can maximize if the child faces a long duration of the seizureor any other condition of the nervous system. Genetic InfluenceGenetics play a very important role as in some case of epilepsy when someoneexperiences seizures and the specific part of the brain that has been affected, it is considered as acase of genetic influence. In some cases, where the mother is used to some drugs at the time ofpregnancy as well, then also, there are huge chances that the child may be prone to somedisorders such as epilepsy (Fisher and et.al., 2014). If the child does not get proper oxygen insidethe womb, it can also result in epilepsy. Although smoking and drinking also impact the health ofthe mother as well as child but substance abuse can cause epilepsy and along with it can affectthe health of the child very badly. There are chances of the child may be born handicapped. Traumatic injuriesIn some case, if the person has gone through some traumatic injury such as any caraccident in which any external force makes damages to the brain and affects the whole or partial2
