NEW ENTERPRISE DEVELOPMENT2 Introduction This report work would include reflection on my personal experience of group consultancy projectandMD4060module.Reflectionisaneffectivewayoflearningfromprevious experience. Kolb’s reflection model consists of four stages in the cycle which will be used for presenting this piece of reflecting for better understanding. The project was about Preston market or Preston market hall where various types of goods like fish are offered to the customer’s under a single roof(prestonguildcity, 2019).However due to very old and damage building, the market was demolished although a new market has been developed there. The major aim of this new place was to provide organic and fresh goods to customers(Dosser & Nicol, 2016). Kolb Reflection model Figure1: (Source:(Fook, 2018)
NEW ENTERPRISE DEVELOPMENT3 1.Concrete experience The actual description of the experience would be included in this first stage. For the sterling consultancy project, the group was formed and the roles were assigned in the group for better organization and management among the group and avoid duplicity of work. I was the leader of the group, and the host organization was selected to be the Preston market for the project. The project as to provide consultancy to Preston box market, the project included various decision making before reaching out to the plan. Moreover there were certain issues faced by the team while conducting the project, the reason being the viewpoint of every individual member is different and the chances of conflicts were higher(prestonguildcity, 2019).Some of the positive aspects identified for the Preston box market were that they many products are available for the customer under a single roof, for traders the prices were affordable and the concept was found to be attractive and new. However, some of the negative aspect would be loss of the original heritage of the city, since the original building was heritage to the city, which was loss with new market concept. The chances of increase in rent for the places for vendors could be another negative aspect(prestonguildcity, 2019). 2.Reflective observation The reflection of the feeling during the experience would be included in this stage. Before initiating the project we were not aware of the team member and the host organization with whom I would be working.I was not sure if I would be able to work in a group while coordinating with various stakeholders with the host organization and within the team members. At the time of experience I started feeling confident when I was assigned as leader of the project. The problem arises with the selection of host organization because of different viewpoints of

NEW ENTERPRISE DEVELOPMENT4 everyone and being a democratic leader I preferred to listen everyone before making any decision, which turned out to heat up a conversation and due to the unacceptability of each other’s idea, a small conflict arose among the team. I listened to everybody, tried to resolve the issue and the last decision was made by me. As the task progressed various other roles were assigned within the group as there were various other jobs increased afterward. For instance relationship building with the host organization was one such task which is done to develop coordination among the organization and their requirements to be added in the plan. Another problem was that some of the tasks took longer time due to which the whole project got late by a day. This problem was overcome while interacting with the host organization and asking addition time to complete the plan. After the experience the project resulted out to be successful at the same time it could have been completed on time. There was major learning from the issue faced and the experience I had, which could be used in future and helpful in my career(placenorthwest, 2019). 3.Abstract conceptualization The major leanings from the experiences are considered in this stage. The learning from this reflective experience was: Time management – One of the issues faced was related to the time that could have solved through time management matrix. This could be done through developing matrix considering the priority of the task and relevancy of the task. Problem solving method – For solving the problem a structured process can be followed to resolve the problem more accurately.
NEW ENTERPRISE DEVELOPMENT5 Conflict resolution techniques – Considering the situation the conflicts can be resolved using various techniques like competing, collaborating, compromising, avoiding, and accommodating. Decision-making style – There is a major decision-making style, among which one specific style could have used. For instance conceptual decision making, analytical, descriptive, and behavior(Janis & Mann, 2014). Leadershipskills–Variousleadershipskillswerelearnedlikecommunication, relationship building, and cooperation. Being a leader, leadership styles are a most relevant aspect and must be enhanced with time. 4.Active experimentation The learning from the experience could be useful in the future course of work or upcoming project. For instance in the next project I would prefer to schedule the tasks well before, for which either time management matrix would be developed or Gantt chart would be helpful in such a situation. Moreover, the leadership skills learned would be applied in the upcoming project and the conceptual decision-making style would be used for enhancing innovation and creativity while adopting the social approach(Cotton, 2016).The relationship building would be enhancedandappliedinthenextprojectandcanbeexpressedthroughmoreeffective communication. The conflict management would also be used in case of identification of any potential conflict to be arising(Schon, 2017). Conclusion From the report it can be said that the consultancy project was a major experience which was reflected through Kolb’s reflective cycle. The plan was made for the new Preston box market by
NEW ENTERPRISE DEVELOPMENT6 our group which was completed successfully but with a delay of 24 hours. There was a certain issue faced in the group like conflict among the team at the time of decision making. The major learningsfromtheexperienceincludedleadershipskills,decision-makingstyle,conflict resolution techniques, problem solving method, and time management. These learning could be helpful to apply in future work for improvising the upcoming experience. This would include the application of conceptual decision making style, time management in advance and conflict management techniques could be applied.
