Question 1: What is the importance of teaching oceanography in the curriculum?
This question has been chosen because it is very important for the students to know
about the life in the oceans. The article and the unit oceanography involves both knowledge
and fun. The lessons that the unit of oceanography include are the overview of the world’s
oceans and the importance of the water on our planet. The unit of oceanography includes
different lessons. The topics that the unit covers are the introduction to the ocean life, the
composition of water and its importance, the density of Water, the discussion of waves, the
currents and the tides as well. The students are also taught about the geographical formations.
Along with the theoretical knowledge, the students are exposed to the practical experience of
the ocean and the water waves, since they reside very close to the ocean, and it is feasible for
them to have an access to the way the waves form, to how the current and the tides take their
shape. The students are also allowed to watch the videos of the Living Sea and in the unit of
the geographical formation, they are asked to copy the pictures of the common geographical
land formations. Thus the importance of teaching oceanography in the curriculum is helpful
for the students.
Question 2: How is the article helpful for the students as well as the teachers?
From the article itself we find that the students and the teachers react very positively
to the unit. The students not only receive knowledge about the subject but also they learn to
cultivate their creative bent of mind. They are supposed to create oceanic species, from that

understand the student psychology, how they think and what their creative minds can do.
