NORMING AND ADJOURNING
Norming is the third stage of the group development theory put forward by Tuckman. In
this stage, agreement as well as consensus is largely formed among the team members and each
of the members is seen to respond well to the facilitation of the leader. Every member is seen to
access their roles and responsibilities and every big decision are taken only after agreement of
the entire group (Kiweewa et al. 2018). The team is seen to discuss and develop their own
processes and working styles and commitment and unity is found to be quite stronger. A general
respect for the leader is observed. Although we took some amount of time to become
comfortable in the initial stage, our individual efforts helped us developing strong bonds among
the team members (Raes et al. 2015). We initiated group meetings where every member
participated and this helped us in developing our comfort level with each others. We always
respected the suggestions of every member and took them in consideration before developing
specific strategy to meet the goals. We often engaged in informal discussions as well as after our
group meetings where we talked about some hot topics like Netflix, sports, recent films and
others. Therefore, in this way, we started understanding each other’s strengths, liking, disliking,
vulnerabilities and others. We often respected all such attributes and this helped in preventing
any conflicts. We respected our leader and he always engaged us in constructive feedback
exchange sessions so that we can maintain transparency in the team. Many researchers are of the
opinion that greater the transparency, lesser will be chances of conflicts and misunderstanding
and better the emotional connection among the members of the team. Hence, the leader always
encouraged us to maintain transparency and this contributed to better teamwork and rapport
development. The leader always motivated us to provide our valuable suggestions which made
us feel included and more dedicated to the team. We always motivated each other to overcome
our weakness and reach the zenith of success.
