Introduction
According to the theory of entrepreneurship, there are both emotional and logical
factors included to become a successful entrepreneur. Entrepreneurs need to have a definite
set of skills, business motive, and passion towards success, immense knowledge about
various business dynamics, decision-making qualities, risk-taking abilities and leadership
qualities (Kuratko 2016). In addition to this, to run a business, a person needs to have enough
financial capital to be able to stabilise its start-up or begin another business financially.
Evidence suggests that successful businesspersons or executives have similar kind of traits or
attributes to make their business successful in the long run (Fayolle 2013). Although they do
not have similar characteristics or features, yet a particular behavioural pattern are similar
within them, which indicates their urge for doing business. These kinds of characteristics are
not incorporated into every individual like me. As a result, not everyone can afford to become
an entrepreneur. The following essay highlights the qualities of becoming an entrepreneur. In
addition to this, it incorporates the reason behind not accepting the position of
entrepreneurship.
Qualities of a successful entrepreneur
Any successful business entrepreneur should be confident as well as optimistic
towards every aspect of business movements. The theory of entrepreneurship consist of
theory of economic entrepreneurship, sociological entrepreneurship, psychological theory,
innovative theory and high achievement rate theory. Under the theory of economic
entrepreneurship, any kind of business and impact over the stock market trends, uncertainty
in economic and political situations in an economy (McKenny et al.2017). They are the self-
starters of business and lives a disciplined lifestyle to cater to all kind of difficulties. Apart
from all these factors, entrepreneurship is a stressful work and consist of large
responsibilities. Therefore, there are various psychological aspects related to entrepreneurial

qualities. The only positive outcome lies in the fact that there is an immense source of income
and greater profits for a single entrepreneur. Therefore, the five theories of entrepreneurship
suggests the following qualities incorporated in an entrepreneur.
Disciplined lifestyle: Entrepreneurs are goal-oriented professionals who believe in
maintaining an absolute everyday schedule. These professionals are completely focused on
succeeding in business and expanding their empire. As a result, they try hard to eliminate
hurdles and distractions of all magnitudes from their career path. Every action of the
individual is completely strategized with appropriate outlining of business tactics (Klein et
al. 2013). In addition to this, their everyday lifestyle is managed according to a specific
guideline. All these strategies, rules and regulations are maintained to incorporate discipline
and succeed in business. Thus, maintaining a disciplined lifestyle is a basic criterion or
objective of a successful entrepreneur.
Confidence in attitude: One of the foremost criteria of an entrepreneur is that they never
question their decision, aim and motive. They have a keen knowledge as well as experience
towards market insights. Their level of understanding and lookout towards success is
unmanageable. Theories suggest that entrepreneurs who are confident regarding knowledge
succeeds in building a prosperous business system (Kozubíková et al. 2015). This sustainable
confidence is included in every aspect of a business. Thus, to become a successful
entrepreneur, it is mandatory to build a substantial amount of confidence.
Broader view and self-starting capability: For an entrepreneur, every situation or event is
an ultimate opportunity to grow or expand their business operations. They brainstorm ideas to
generate suitable as well as appropriate strategies to prosper in business, enhance efficiency
at work, skills of the people and new business potentials. Their ultimate aim is to increase

business performance keeping aside all other distractions. Thus, open-mindedness or broader
view towards business expansion is necessary for becoming an entrepreneur.
Apart from this, they have a keen idea and knowledge regarding the pros and cons of
associate with start-ups. An entrepreneur cannot have a backup because they have to start
their business on their own (Babu and Kasilingam 2015). As a result, they set particular
parameters and aims at a particular path to achieve growth in business. In addition to this,
entrepreneurs do not rely on others to seek permission to open a business. Therefore,
entrepreneurs do not or cannot afford to have a second thought before starting a business
operation.
The competitive attitude in business and personality: Competition is one of the foremost
as well as crucial criteria associated with starting a business. Therefore, the characteristics of
handling competition in the market should be built within the entrepreneur. In certain cases, it
becomes difficult for individual persons to stand strong against the competition (Santandreu‐
Mascarell Garzon and Knorr 2013). Moreover, handling competition is not everyone’s deal.
Therefore, it is not easy for people to become an entrepreneur. Thus, a successful
entrepreneur has the attribute of winning games and should have the ability to perform work
better than other does. Under a certain situation, handling intense market competition
becomes stressful for a businessperson. Therefore, the leader of the group should be calm and
composed to handle critical situations.
Creativity and unbreakable determination: After all the points mentioned above, an
entrepreneur should have the creativity and strong determination to achieve success in
settling and expanding business. A well-established and strong entrepreneur comes with
creative strategies to plan and provide a durable structure for the business. This creativeness
helps in launching new products into the industries (Hutchens 2017). Along with creativity,

keen and uninterrupted determination towards achieving success is an important criterion of a
successful entrepreneur. They make each opportunity a successful business endeavour.
Strong work ethics and communicating skill: In addition to holding a keen understanding
of knowledge, strong will and definite passion, entrepreneurs should have the value for
morality and work ethics. These ethical considerations and values help in the uninterrupted
formulation of business growth. Apart from this, the entrepreneur should have good
communicating skills to maintain a healthy working environment and positive relationship
with their employees. Maintaining work ethics helps in avoiding penalties and bad
reputations. Another important aspect of an entrepreneur is their enormous devotion to work
and business expansion. They prefer working more for contributing to business growth than
enjoying other aspects of life. Entrepreneurs tend to train other people to expand their
business performance.
Thus, from the above points on qualities of an entrepreneur, this can be implied that it is
not an easy decision for becoming a business owner. There are various aspects and
complexities associated with running a business, which is not possible for a random person
like me. I have a different mind-set and capabilities. In addition to this, my views towards
living life are different from any successful business owner. The uninterrupted devotion
towards work and ultimate consideration for business development is missing in my
characteristics. Moreover, my ambition is different from being a successful entrepreneur.
Although one can earn immense fame, revenue and profitability from starting a business, yet
the devotion associated with settling and operating a business is difficult. Therefore, my
aspiration and knowledge-pushed me to become a market analyst, which is completely
different from becoming an entrepreneur.
My aspirations of becoming a Marketing Analyst

In order to settle my own business, the crucial factor is that I require having a
substantial amount of capital as well as the potential to build a successful entrepreneur. These
qualities are missing in me, and the complete devotion towards a single prospect is difficult
for me. Moreover, I have always aspired of becoming a marketing analyst for a well-known
Business to Consumer Corporation. This is one of the important reason for neglecting the
idea of becoming an entrepreneur. In this modern era or the business-dominated world, there
is a growing requirement for various marketing analysts. They have become an integral part
of the research firm. In addition to this, in this era of a highly competitive market, if anyone
aspires of becoming an entrepreneur or thinks about starting a business, they come to
marketing analysts to gather knowledge about the future sustainability of a business or the
various prospects of a market. Therefore, it is a growing area for getting a job and the growth
prospect is high in this particular profile. This new job opportunity has several new dynamics
to learn and the environment is entirely challenging. However, certain specific criteria need
to be maintained to become a marketing analyst. Therefore, the list below mentions the
various prospects offered by a market analyst job as well as the features that I possess as a
marketing analyst.
Ability to interact with people: Market analysts’ needs to have good listening skills to
gather appropriate as well as relevant information from the market. They need to take notes
from the respondents either through visits or through telephonic conversations. Moreover, the
marketing analyst works on different kinds of data, which can consist of primary as well as
secondary data. Under primary data, market analysts collect information by interviewing
customer, retailers, business officials and focused groups (Corredor Ferrer and Santamaria
2019). The information collected needs to be analysed to create perfect market statistics.
Secondary data are collected from relevant websites and analysed through excel. A beginner

or a fresher candidate has to collect data at the initial stage but senior executives work on
derived or collected data by other field workers.
Statistical knowledge: A marketing analyst should have significant knowledge regarding
various statistical software packages and advanced excel techniques. In addition to this, they
should have experience in the same to be able to perform different types of task. They should
be aware of all the minute procedures in handling and developing a perfect market report for
a new or already established business. Software packages such as SPSS, STATA, Eviews and
Ph.-Stat in Excel are needed to prepare a market analysis report (Demil et al. 2015).
Moreover, under certain cases, they not only perform primary market research but also
perform research on secondary data, which uses different tools to find out relevant outcomes.
Analytical abilities and knowledge: Creating a complete report on the market is a critical
process. Therefore, a marketing analyst should develop critical thinking and provide attention
towards minute details on every aspect of the market. They should have commendable
analytical as well as problem-solving skills (Bekmamedova and Shanks 2014). Their ability
to interpret gathered information is extraordinary for any business.
Presentation and communication skills: In addition to all the criteria mentioned above, a
marketing analyst should be able to write strong and information reflecting reports. These
reports are provided to business clients. Moreover, a market analyst should be able to
represent presentations to clients with complete focus on goals. Therefore, they have a good
communicating skill as well.
Therefore, being a marketing analyst is not an easy procedure. This job role consists
of various critical issues, as well. Despite critical and complexities involved in the process of
a market analyst, I do not want to become an entrepreneur or build an independent venture.
This is because to become anything, ambition and passion is a mandatory attribute, which I

do not feel for entrepreneurship. However, I have always aspired of becoming a successful
market analyst because one can learn different aspects of the market from being one.
Moreover, I possess the qualities of becoming a marketing analyst. This is because I can
gather knowledge from different people. I prefer gaining knowledge about the market and
like taking challenges and earning new insights.
Additionally, I have statistical and advanced excel knowledge to prepare results from
the collected data. During my academic career, I have presented different presentations for
coursework and attained success in the process. This is helping me in my current job in a
similar profile. As reviewed by my colleagues, I have good communication abilities and like
to socialise as well as know about the behaviour of different individuals. Apart from all these
factors, I have a greater interest in different market dynamics and like to perform tasks related
to it. Therefore, my ambition is to become a market analyst for a reputed organisation.
Currently, I am working for a Business to Consumer organisation and over these years, I have
learnt different technologies involved in the process. However, I want to grow further in this
job role as the salaries and knowledge linked with this profile is high.
Conclusion
On the basis of the above discussion, it can be said that becoming an entrepreneur
requires a diverse skill set and a great amount of determination. However, it cannot be said
that becoming an entrepreneur is the only way in which an individual can be regarded as
successful. I am very happy with the skills obtained by me as a part of my role as a market
analyst and intend to grow in the job. These include statistical knowledge, interaction skills
and critical analysis of a situation. Hence, I do not plan on becoming an entrepreneur.
