INTRODUCTION
Numeracy is defined as the ability to reason and apply accurate mathematical principles.
Knowing fundamental mathematics such as arithmetic, reduction, division, and differentiating
are examples of simple numeracy abilities. Numeracy abilities have been extensively studied in
terms of their development and degenerative reversal, but it is unclear if they affect health
outcomes. Furthermore, it is yet unknown whether either mathematical aptitude may be
improved with age (Kass-Hanna, Lyons and Liu, 2021). Data analysis is the method for
inspecting, analyzing, transforming, and modeling data with the goal of uncovering useful
information, communicating results, and assisting judgment. Research process has many features
and methodologies, is known by a variety of names, and involves a variety of tactics. It is
utilized in a variety of commercial, academic, and social studies disciplines. In today’s rapidly
changing business climate, analysis of data entails gaining more information and assisting
organizations in performing more successfully.
MAIN BODY
Question 1
Numerator: The numerator is the quantity that happens in the top section of the fraction. A
fractional was nothing but a piece of all that has been mentioned thus far. As a result, the
numerator indicates the total number of equal pieces that would be multiplied.
Denominator: The denominator is the fraction's second component. They make it up often from
the bottom third of the percentage. It also corresponds to the quantity of two pieces that the total
can be divided into. Let's look at that other 12 fraction instance. 12 denote that two similar
sections of a given picture are considered in this case (Thomas and Jones, 2021).
In a fraction, the denominator represents the number of equal pieces, while the numerator
represents the number of sections. As p / q is the numerator of a complete entity that is divided
into q segments with same dimensions, the denominator is p pieces in a fraction.
Question 2
24/40 = 0.6
Numeracy, Data & IT: Solved Assignments and Essays - Desklib_4

18/42 = 0.43 (approx.)
Question 3
(a) Express the fractions 2/3, 3//4 and 5/6 as equivalent fractions with a denominator of 12
2/3 = 2*4/3*4 = 8/12
3/4 = 3*3/4*3 = 9/12
5/6 = 5*2/ 6*2 = 10/12
(b) Percentage of library books on computing
Remainder book = 60,000 – 14,000 – 22,000 – 12,000
= 12,000
Computing books = 12,000 × 2
3
= 8,000
Percentage of books on computing = 8,000
60,000 ×100
= 13.33%
Question 4
Total money given by Liz = £50 × 3 = £150
Total price of 2 pairs of shoes = £150 - £10.50
= £139.50
Price of each pair of shoes = £139.50/2
= £69.75 per pair
Question 5
(a). 240.50 x 19.54 (2 significant)
Numeracy, Data & IT: Solved Assignments and Essays - Desklib_5

From the above expression, there is a total of four decimal places from the two numbers 24050
x 1954 = 46993700
240.50 x 19.54 = 4699. 3700
= 4699.37 (2 decimal places)
(b) Rewriting 52100 to the power of 10
5.21 x 104
Question 6
Discount rate = 30%
No of people = 3
Total amount paid = £210
Amount paid for one person = £210/3 = 70
Percentage of amount paid = 70%
Total amount paid for sign up = £210
Total discount received = £210 × 30
100
= £63
Hence, the total savings made = £63
(b) Average savings per person = £63 / 3 (Patty and her 2 siblings)
= £21 per person
Question 7
a) 3/4 - 7/9 + 2/3
Applying BODMAS = 17/12 – 7/9
= 237/108
