In this section, provide a succinct rationale for documenting literature searches in a research JOURNAL. In
this case, what is meant by a research journal is the process undertaken to identify your 5-8 research articles.
Briefly consider what skills and knowledge you could gain by completing this research journal and this
research journal assignment will assist you in completing future journal searches in your future clinical
practice.
Research is very crucial in the modern world where different people are always involved in researching about different
issues which affect them in their workplaces, homes, or any other sectors of their lives. The research done by people
(researchers) may be academic or non-academic in nature depending on their motives of the research.
The required information will be gathered through intensive research which will be done by considering different
credible online articles. After collecting the information, it will be documented in a word document which will act as the
research journal in this case. This research will consider six credible articles which will be sufficient to give all the
required information about the CaseWorld considered in this assignment. The research which will be conducted in the

1) Prevention and treatment of dementia – This research area will focus on some of the main strategies which can be
applied in the prevention of dementia. The caring and treatment of patients who have dementia will also be discussed.
2) Prevention and treatment of urinary infections – This research area will concentrate on some of the strategies
which can be applied in preventing and reducing the cases of urinary infections. The research will also explore some

This research journal project (activity) has played a significant role in expanding the researcher’s ability in collecting appropriate, relevant, and
credible research articles which are of great use in the selected CaseWorld. In the research, the researcher encountered different articles which
were greatly related, and he had to apply critical thinking in his selection for him to select the most appropriate articles which will fit in his specific
CaseWorld. The selected CaseWorld was of Marjorie Burns, a 76-year-old inpatient on the Geriatric Management Unit (GEM). Marjorie was
admitted to GEM after spending six days in the acute hospital where she was admitted with delirium (acute confusion). She was later diagnosed
and treated for a urinary tract infection, and subsequent assessments indicated that she had dementia of moderate severity. The research
articles which were collected for this research project were collected considering the medical conditions of this old inpatient. Having understood
the medical conditions of the patient, the researcher was able to do his research appropriately where he scrutinized all the relevant articles which
he got for him to get the best articles which would be helpful in addressing the medical conditions of the patient. This research project is very
helpful as it expands the students researching skills where the students get to understand how they should be conducting their research and how
they should sort the information they get according their levels of relevance and importance in the specific context under consideration. The
students undertaking nursing and other medical-related courses will be involved in different researches in their career, and with the research
skills and knowledge gained from this project, they will carry out their research more effectively and more efficiently. Therefore, this project is
very useful in the career lives of all the students taking nursing and other medical related courses who expect to be involved in different
researches in their careers.
