reading the article
Disaster management is defined as conservation of property and lives during natural
disasters (Hasan, Younos and Farid,2021). The current term is also considered as effective
procedure that enable individual person to manage the worst situation that put negative
impact on their lives and living standard. This process plays significant role in the context
responses and preparation of disasters that impact the human life. While conducting this
process individuals or professionals faces different types of issues. The current assignment
explain a reflective statement based on a specific article that is ' Challenges for nurses in
disaster management: A scoping review. It will justify the critical reflection by using Gibb's
reflective cycle in term of reflecting any feeling, concern or feeling experience while reading the
chosen article.
By referring to Gibb's reflective cycle, I want to describe my personal experience related
to the selected article, that I attempt to read (Pitts, 2021). By reading the current article, the
best thing that has been learned and understand is that disaster management is not an easy
concept (Challenges for Nurses in Disaster Management: A Scoping Review, 2020). A person to
handle any form of disaster face different types of challenges that lead to decrease their
effectiveness and efficiency to perform any task, for short term period. While reading the
article, the great understanding has been developed that put positive impact on further career
growth in the field of health care, where nurses attempts to deal with several disasters, in term
of preparing to respond each disaster immediately. It affects the way they perform and take
decision to conduct any activity in the workplace that is full of challenges, and uncertainties.
Nurses in nursing field face challenges that I have identified and these are disaster nursing is a
new speciality, poor formal education, ethical and legal problems, etc.

I want to reflect my feeling while reading the article based on challenges that nurses
faced during the procedure of disaster management. Before, reading this article the nervous
level reach high, as it is not that much interesting to read an article and whole content, which
consumes a lot of time and efforts that is not good for career development and growth, either
personal or professional (Kousar, Khanam & Azhar, 2021). After reading article, I am taking
interest to read the whole, as it related to a specific profession, in which I am taking interest to
enter, in the future. Now, I am feeling happy and good as the current article is useful and
beneficial in term of providing information regarding challenges that nurses faces to deal and
conduct practice of disaster management. I had collected more data in regard to situation that
nurses deal with and approaches they conduct to handle overall situation appropriately. My
feeling get the worst when I have realized that I am not posing better knowledge of effective
decision-making, ICTs and flexibility.
It has been evaluated that overall experience and understanding regarding chosen
article and content that it encompasses went well, as it had developed the comprehending of
situation faced by nurses in the context of disaster management. The things that went well, are
related knowledge about issues faces by nurses or professionals. The data that I have gathered
will help me in the future in form of generating awareness, related to issues that I will face the
same in disaster management process. With the current understanding, I will take initiative to
handle the situations where any form of disaster occur suddenly and I will deal the same. It is
fact that the issues that has been determined from current article may affect my future
professional practice in positive manner in form of driving attention toward developing plans
that aid to manage everything, from management to professional practices that I am
accountable to conduct.
I read the chosen article appropriately and collected data related to challenges for
nurses in disaster management that may affect further professional practice positively. Thus, by
reading the current article, I have obtained data related to each challenge such as poor formal
learning, lack of investigation, legal & ethical issue, and problems related to nurse roles in
situation of disasters. These forms of information I will use further when I am responsible to
perform the same role in similar sector. It may put positive impact on professional practice and

activity in term of driving attention toward developing tactics that help to manage the work
during and after disaster occurrence (Yaacob and Asraf, 2021). The best part of overall
experience gain while reading article is that nurses attempts to handle circumstance and
provide the best care treatment, which is important for me to consider and then understand.
This form of understanding and consideration may apply further that improve professional
practice and develop new one effectively, which utilize to reach and cater desire results.
Lifelong learning refers to process of developing skills and gaining knowledge from
different sources related to a specific profession (Padilha & et.al. 2020). I prefer to continue this
procedure, which contribute to make myself able to perform professionally and productively in
the future while performing the role of nurse or care provider in health care sector, where
number of individuals are taking initiative to care others, who need them and their attention as
well as the best care treatments. My concern is related to how nurses perform their role during
and after disasters such as pandemic. As it is a challenging situation that put direct impact on
way they work and manage daily routine, which is important for them to do so systematically.
In the recent time, it is one of the biggest challenge that a person face and effort to deal with
that. Lifelong learning plays important for in the context of current statement in form of
concern that affect further professional practice positively. As it identify that the role of nurses
in any health care institute or organization is complicated and challenging. Lifelong learning
play crucial role in this situation, it aids to solve the concern and affect positively in form of
driving individual attention toward developing and improving current competencies as well as
knowledge that support to reach desire results in form of aim achievement, whether it is long,
short or medium term. It may aid to mitigate each form of concern that I have and will emerge
in the future when I play a particular professional role. It may contribute to achieve target aim
and objectives that individual set, to grow and succeed in the world where competition level is
higher. It affects positively and effectively in term of providing chance to progress.
On the basis of above discussion and analysis, it has been concluded that information,
collected from an article based on challenges for nurses in disaster management, has
contributed to improved performance level. It has provided opportunity to developed strategic
plans and strategies that enable to overcome the challenge occur during disaster management.

Furthermore, with number of skills and effectiveness, I have obtained desire outcomes, that has
increased my performance and productiveness. Along with above consideration, it has been
determined that the issues are emerged because of not having some sort of competencies that
affect negatively upon further performance and professional practice in health care industry. It
is one of those sectors, where individual person perform professionally with concentration on
task or practice they are responsible to conduct in effective and systematic manner. Moreover,
areas of improvement identification has moved toward development of action plan that is
important to develop appropriately.
The current action plan is based on skills that require developing in appropriate and
systematic manner, for purpose of improving professional practices and developing the best in
the context of same (Ingham-Broomfield, 2021). This form of plan encompasses different types
of elements that is essential for me to take into my consideration and these are represented in
a table format (Said & Chiang, 2020).
