NURSING2 Philosophy of nursing practices is an integral sector for every nurse. Pesut and Jonson (2013) term it as every nurses' business. Defining nursing philosophy presents a deeper connection between these beliefs and the nursing profession. Nursing beliefs are the product of interaction with patients, their families and friends, team workers and knowledge obtained from studies. Philosophy of nursing practice enacts nursing values in the nursing world. In the profession being in touch and deep connection to these philosophical statements is the reason why the philosophies are crucial. Nursing philosophy promotes the desire of each nurse to help patients and their family through the unwellness hardships. No one deserves to suffer alone. Nursing philosophy is a way of uncovering what fuels professionalism. Nursing philosophy is the mirror of oneself. The philosophy of nursing practices has molded me to who I am and guides me throughout this calling professionalism. The following philosophical statements guide me in the nursing community. First and foremost, I believe in professionalism. My Professional practices encompass of dexterity in assessment, diagnosis passing of treatment, planning of healthcare delivery and implementation and evaluation of processes that promote healing, comfort and patient’s overall affair. These professional standards of practices are based on evidence-based research, scientific knowledge, standards from regulatory bodies as well as from current theoretical practices. As a nurse, I believe that professional nursing practices call for the honor of the patient's right to confidentiality, privacy, respect to own decisions and other ethical healthcare delivery. I believe in equitable healthcare. Personalized healthcare should be spread wholeheartedly to all patients regardless of age, gender, creed, religion, nationality, race, and socio-economic status. My mission is to cater to my patients individually and providing the
NURSING3 personalized healthcare they need. As a a nurse, we should respect and support the social diversity in patients, their family and also in other healthcare providers. I believe in financial stewardship. As a nurse, we should aim to provide the maximum healthcare provision with the minimum efficient cost burden to the patient, their families, the organization, state and nation as a whole. Competent and responsible nursing calls for diligent financial stewardship as well as strategic expense management. Philosophical nursing practices make various assumptions.Zaccagnini (2019)assumes nurses as patients’ advocates who ought to represent patient’s needs, request and provide individualized health care requirements. Another assumption is that health follows natural law. Sickness is unavoidable. Nursing philosophy demands nurses to provide healthcare at all times. . Nurses should coordinate care between patients, their families as well as from other healthcare providers compassionately and constructively. Borrowing from Nightingale’s environment theory, the environmental assumption made is that environmental factors affect health(AliSher et. al, 2019).It is he role of nurses to provide patients, patients’ visitors, and other healthcare providers a safe environment that will promote wellness, physical and emotional healing, and learning. According toKrautscheid (2017), healthchallenges are embedded in everyday nursing practice. Many ethical pressures arise from the diversities and disparities we exist in. We should uphold professional ethical standard coping these challenges, nurses should define their boundaries of their professionalism to coup up with the challenges and finding new ways to dodge these challenges. .
NURSING4 Delivery of services should be collaborative with other team players. This provides an opportunity for professional enlightenment, cohort support, networking and a working environment fostering cohesion, engagement, trustworthy and loyalty. Nurses commit to keep in with the current knowledge and skills through continued learning and keeping in mind of emerging issues. Each day is a learning day to better nursing services provided.
